Kept Palaye and The Used since a lot of MCR fans would enjoy them. The rest is very R/L friendly.

The last time MCR headlined (2011) the day was nothing but hard rock/punk bands that catered to MCR fans. I can't really see your average MCR fan preferring a hip-hop artist sub compared to a similar band.

Then again the people at Download enjoyed Die Antwoord under Slipknot.

Reading and Leeds changed from a rock festival to a primarily indie festival around 2016, with different genres scattered everywhere. IF My Chem play, it really wouldn't surprise me if someone like Cardi B subs. Oddly it would surprise me if a more suitable band subs My Chem.

2021 is looking promising with RATM, My Chemical Romance and Mötley Crüe reunions and other names like Avenged Sevenfold, Architects, Parkway Drive and Ghost with new material

Avenged/MCR/Rage would have me buy a weekend ticket without caring for the rest of the lineup.

  3. 2020 seems to be catering towards the "we go for the experience, not the bands" audience, which means a lot of people will miss a year or go to Reading and Leeds instead.

On the bright side, 2021 will most likely have a better lineup...

...Unless there's a new agreement between Download and R/L, where Download is the conservative festival that can only book safe bands, whereas R/L is the festival that's allowed to take risks.

This does absolutely nothing for me.

  5. Made a 2021 lineup based on the trend of "playing it safe".

    • Slipknot! Who couldn't wait to return and play more songs off "We Are Not Your Kind"!
    • Def Leppard! Who were kindly asked to return after Copping couldn't get Rammstein!
    • Aerosmith! On their final final tour!

Spread across the weekend are other recycled bands who everyone has already seen!

Three solid headliners that would sell despite the fact it’s dead as fuck.

I'm sighing in disappointment already, and we've still a month to go.

SOAD are one of those bands where people (especially casual fans/those new to Download) hype them up to a point they're a "once in a lifetime experience".. Same with Rammstein. Once you've seen them, the novelty wears off unless you're a big fan.

Sat with a group in 2017. Told me straight up that I'm wasting my time watching Sum 41, because SOAD were THE band to see regardless whether I'd seen them before (2011). Saw the group again the next day and all of them were "Meh."

  7. Sunday: 90% chance Kiss are playing, which I'm not at all thrilled about. Could also be AC/DC.

Saturday: I'm guessing Metallica, Iron Maiden or SOAD.  Please none of them (aside Metallica).

SOAD have nothing new to offer and Maiden seem like Copping's 'safe' band. Metallica are due for a return, I guess.

Friday: Likely a smaller band unless they get AC/DC again (would be a Sat/Sun band if they didn't bring their own stage).

Smaller headliners - ADTR, Alter Bridge, Korn, FFDP, Ghost. Out of those I see Alter Bridge making the jump, but they don't have that "wow" factor most headliners bring. Felt the same with Biffy. I could be wrong and Copping's like "Sod it, I'll get Bring Me."

  8. Alter Bridge / Volbeat / Sabaton/ Mercyful Fate

    2nd: Airbourne

    3rd: Cradle Of Filth

    ____

Iron Maiden / Judas Priest / Gojira / Mastodon

    2nd: NOFX

    3rd: Alien Ant Farm

    ____

Kiss / Steel Panther / Greta Van Fleet / Cheap Trick

    2nd: Clutch

    3rd: Bury Tomorrow

Why not? My friend has a Saturday day ticket and walked into the campsite just fine and stayed over night. Plenty of people do it. I did it at Leeds last year. Nobody checks.

If you want to risk it

You’ll be able to get into the campsite and stay over night no problem if that’s what you’re wanting to do.

You can't with a Sunday day ticket.

Thinking of getting a ticket for the Sunday, mates are going for the weekend, never been before

Would I be able to go into the campsite and back out again or not? I know they're more lenient on sundays at Leeds fest

You'd have to get a Weekend camping ticket if you want to stay over. Not worth the money for one night.

Download have confirmed on there twitter that we will get one more band announcement and there are spots still to be filled

Where precisely on Twitter? Link to the tweet?

  12. Def Leppard / Slash / Whitesnake / Deadland Ritual

    ??Within Temptation / Hollywood Undead??

Slipknot / Slayer / Rob Zombie / Arch Enemy

Trivium / Eagles of Death Metal

Tool / Smashing Pumpkins / Die Antwoord / Don Broco

Lamb of God / Dream Theater

Dream Theatre will sub second stage, as will Lamb of God, I think. At the moment I think:

Def Leppard / Slash / Whitesnake / Deadland Ritual / Tesla

Rob Zombie / Lamb of God

Slipknot / Slayer / Trivium / Behemoth / Amon Amarth

Enter Shikari / Eagles of Death Metal

Tool / Smashing Pumpkins / Die Antwoord / Clutch / Opeth

    Within Temptation / Dream Theatre

Within Temptation are booked elsewhere for Saturday and Sunday. The only day they could play is Friday, and the only slots they could (and would) do are 3rd down/Zippo headliner. Can't see them playing.

Deffo supports my theory of them being 3rd main stage. No way would they clash with Tool.

Where are Die Antwoord playing then if they're a 'logo' band, self confirmed for Sunday? Doubt they'd headline second against Tool.

More likely Dream Theater are headlining second, or Die Antwoord are Saturday third down like I initially thought.

Shame. How do you know 100%?

Are they saving them for 2020?

From what i've heard all the foreign bands had a falling out with the Download UK organisers and likely won't play for a few years at the very least. The British bands simply just don't want to do it. Next year maybe but I doubt it.

Given Slayers tour announcement today and the tours they have already been doing say high chance the saturday will be something like:

Slipknot, Slayer, Lamb Of God, Anthrax, Amon Amarth with maybe some from Canibal Corpse, Testament, Obituary, Behemoth below them.

Seems like a "now DIS is real metulz" line up for older fans.
