  1. Has anyone heard if the Barclaycard discount is on at the bars again this year?

Thinking of applying for one to save some money.  Assuming I can then afford to pay it off straight away to avoid the interest!!

Within Temptation won't play below though, one is going to be 3rd with the other second stage. Really Evanescence should be subbing.

Pretty sure Jinjer will be Slipknot day. Papa Roach are most likely for Sunday given they are doing Friday at Nova Rock. Pretty much rules out Thursday and Saturday.

I would be on Placebo and Disturbed switching. Papa Roach under Ghost.

Sorry if I've missed it but have Ghost been confirmed for a specific day yet?

    Cheers

  3. Saw GnR last night. Back to old tricks of being 1.5 hours late.  Axl's voice gone completely and had to get Carrie Underwood to sing for him.  But worth it just for the first 5 songs.

I heard Joe Elliott confirm that the current Def Leppard tour with Motley, Poison and Joan Jet is coming to Europe next year and playing some festivals.  Could that be the Sunday?

  4. Great festival, very well organised. Only issue was getting back to Manchester afterwards.

Went last year and stayed in hotel on Saturday and cab on Sunday.

We had pre booked the cab a week in advance but it didn't show up. When we spoke to the company their excuse was that there was a festival on and they were busy!!  Uber was over £100 by that point.

We ended up waiting for over an hour for the cab we booked to turn up.    There were about 10 other groups waiting with us who had also pre booked but been let down as well.  Company we used was ABBA cars, but don't know if any other local ones were any better.

Faith No More are touring UK just after Download, starting on the Monday. Which ruled them out before but now I wonder if FNM might just pop up in that friday 2nd stage headline spot now? Might be waiting for those dates to sell 1st?

Yep, rescheduled dates from this year. I've got 5 days at Download rolling straight into FNM. Can't see me being at my best for that gig.  Shame as haven't seen them live since the 90's!

  7. Hi

We (family of 4 with 2 kids age 13 and 9) stayed in there this year.  We have previously stayed in the family camping so can't compare to Emperors Fields.  It was worth the extra money just for the look on the faces of the kids when they realised how short the walk was from the car to the tent which was about 5 mins.  No queue to get in when we arrived around 2pm on the Thursday

Campsite was spacious but on a bit of a slope, there wasn't the usual friday fill up of all available space.  Facilities were probably a bit light, big queues for showers, toilets and food at peak times but probably as I expected.  Second catering van and extra 5-10 toilets and showers would have been enough

Walk to the arena was only about 10-15 minutes - just enough time for a cheeky can on the way

I think noise levels varied from area to area.  It was noisy on the Thu night but only from 2 groups till about 4am.  I'm a heavy sleeper so wasn't bothered by it.  I think the rain on later days stopped it.

Overall it was well worth the money and I've already booked up tickets for next year for it if we decide to go again next year

  8. Had a great time this year. We stayed in Great Plains which was so much easier than the family camping we've done in previous years. Overall the whole arena felt less busy especially the Main stage. The new dance arena seemed to take a lot of the crowd. Moving the Calling Out Stage was a good idea as it made the top area a nice place to get away and relax.

Could have done with one more main bar in my view.

Was anyone who stayed in GP who have been in Emperor's fields?  I'd be interested in a comparison.

I bought the posh toilets for my wife but at times the queues were just as bad and they run out of toilet paper so one to look at for next year.

Band highlights were St Agnes, Blinders, False Advertising, Catfish, White Lies,  and Libertines.

Anyone get into tim peaks to watch the libertines on Sunday? Was really good listening to some of the songs they don't usually do. Also a highlight for me was twisted wheel in house party Saturday night when plan b was on absolutely smashed it

I wish I did. When were they on and is it just luck to be there at the right time?  Or is there some late announcement to give a clue?
