Looking at this, they could well be, and maybe one or two others off this billing.

The twitter post sounds more like a headline though, so maybe they're going to do a Scottish thing - maybe Kelvingrove, who have been announcing recently.

I meant are Belle and Sebastian big enough to headline ATP?

I just put it down to competition.

There isn't a single festival in Europe that has a real top level, mind-blowing line up for me this summer. Lots of them are very good, lots of them are very inconsistent, and lots of them have great acts and some very perplexing ones alongside them (I'm gonna say Calvin Harris at the Primavera top line here alongside some very good bands)

I'm happy with the Strokes day, field day is good, Stormzy day will probably be good. Haim isn't my bag and I think it looks quite weak in the undercard, and while I like Jungle, if they're announced as a headline act, I'll be quite surprised if it's a really successful day.

I think Field Day book the acts themselves for their day, which is the day with the most cohesive line up.

The rest of the days feel incomplete. I know what you are saying, not a huge amount of bands touring this summer but when you company this summer's line up with previous years something seems different.

  3. The lineups this year seem quite patchy.

Some decent bands but not particularly exciting line ups. It's lacking cohesion.

I'm wondering whether the main booker has left and the rest of the staff who are left are trying to scramble around to book acts.

  4. I was thinking it might be held in May again.

Tame Impala and Massive Attack were both lined up to headline in 2020 and they are both playing Primavera around the time.

Kraftwerk are playing in Germany next May and Iggy Pop has a European tour around that time with no UK date and a gap at the end of May. They could both be back for APE after being lined up to play in 2020.

Also having it in May would mean that many bands playing Primavera would be on tour around that time, Gorillaz, Lorde and Nick Cave would all be decent headliners.

I wonder if they are pushing hard to try and get Tame Impala after all, meaning that this is the last day to be announced and a further gap.

Would be bold given the obvious but I can see they might try and go for it.

I would imagine they will be aiming to get Tame Impala back next year when they are at full capacity and I think they will want a UK headliner incase international travel is interupted.

I really can't see a Kooks indie day on the main weekend because of Reading - weekend before or after definitely but not the main weekend just because of Reading. Probably would still sell well but not sure about a sell out (which it easily could if it was on a different weekend)

Reading isn't really indie anymore though is it? And Reading and Leeds is aimed at under 25 year olds, surely they're not interested in the Kooks.

  7. I'm going to throw something out there. Don't dismiss it off hand. I'm going to suggest -

    The White Stripes

Next year its ten years since they split up, they have a greatest hits coming out, they have never fallen out, I think they would be a good fit for APE and The Raconteurs played last year.

I can see it happening (at some point anyway even if not next year)
