It was Echo and the Bunnymen and I can confirm it was packed and also excellent

I think I was making a tit of myself dancing to The Prodigy at the big head around this time, before having to crawl back into my tent and dann near freezing to death.

*Two hit. Sex on Fire and Use Somebody are pretty much second and third for rock songs in the UK this century. (I don't make the rules!)

    What's first? Mr Brightside?

Headliners: Tyler The Creator, Olivia Rodrigo, Green Day

Subs: Jamie T, Biffy Clyro, Chase And Status

Chevron: PinkPantheress, Four Tet, The Streets

R1: Tate McRae, D-Block Europe, Phoebe Bridgers,

FR: The Front Bottoms, Yard Act, The Chats

You've managed to craft a lineup where I legit might spend every night at the FR (possible exception for Phoebe)

  4. As someone who is absolutely not going I love this whiplash of everything from bagging Madonna for an all-timer with Dave as a sub to Shania up top with Elbow as a sub.

This feels like such a soft year everywhere that I give this 50/50 odds of being a top 3 lineup in all of Europe (for general booking quality, not for my taste).

    Let's go fantasy!

    Feeling a Moment
    Shatter
    Pushing the Senses
    Come Back Around
    Insomnia
    Comfort in Sound
    Just the Way I'm Feeling
    Seven Days in the Sun
    Borders
    10 High
    11 Buck Rogers
    12 Just a Day

Borders is a criminally underrated late-era slice of power pop.

Shatter, what a belter. Haven't heard that one for a good long while.

I don't think she will due to contractual matters - and the fact that without a good reason, it's clearly just pettiness - but did wonder if she might bounce.

Fortunately, The 1975 will go just as well into Fred Again..

Honestly, if she's so bothered about where she plays on a lineup, I would recommend that she checks where she's going to play on the lineup before agreeing to the booking...

So many of the Trinity College Dublin gigs last summer were bands also at Glasto so think this makes them very, very likely to be there. Do they still merit a Pyramid sub slot or could you arguably move them to third down (as good as One Day Like This is at sunset)?

Surely in the Year of our Lord 2024, Elbow will not get a sub slot? R&L basically have Lana Del Rey subbing, would be a bit of a clanger if Glasto get Elbow.

  8. Reading through the last few pages folk here seem to have got a bit puritanical, this is Glastonbury not the Anne Frank Haus. So what if someone got a bit wobbly and had what sounds like a wonderful time and lasting memory? I imagine 90% of the posters here go in for some kind of altered state to enhance the experience, what do you think the cider tent is for?

  9. It wasn’t a chart hit but I’d argue Red Right Hand counts for being the unofficial anthem of every british lad with a bad haircut and a lifetime ban from Reflex.

Cave however can get in the bin now as far as I’m concerned.

Now now, we’ll be having none of that kind of talk

Mind you, they've only coincidentally done that since the lineups have considerably weakened

Funny that eh? Tbh I always thought it was a mistake booking acts that big because they suck up all the oxygen in the room. They should have stuck with The Specials and Lauryn Hill and then no-one would be calling the recent lineups weak.

Looking at it from the opposite angle, what's the actual benefit of keeping the lineup under wraps?

I think Boomtown’s reasoning is that they want people to come for the atmosphere/ world building rather than for any particular booking.
Kind of apples to oranges though as the largest act Boomtown ever booked is maybe Gorillaz?
