Once you get to the level of instant sell out, then it's not directly related to demand.

The 2 main factors are how quickly the technology allows them to sell tickets (server capacity), and whether the Festival wish to throttle the process.

If the technology allowed and the Festival desired, then 135,000 could be sold in 1 second - regardless of whether there was 135,000 people trying or 5,000,000.

Ah, that's fair thanks for the explanation. I assumed it had something to do with technology, but I wasn't sure

Festivals have grown immensely popular. Might not be additional hype about just Glastonbury, but there is definitely HUGE additional hype surrounding music festivals.

IS there? Do you think there is a reason for this, all I see is festival becoming less and less affordable haha

  2. Hi guys, out of interest I was wondering how come in 2011 tickets sold out in 4 hours, down to 25min last year, and 30min this year. Surely there isn't any more hype nowadays around the festival than 4, 5 years ago. any ideas as to why?

If you go to the twitter web page there's an option to turn on email notifications for a particular person you're following.

I signed up for Distill and they sent me a confirmation email straight away.  Have you checked your trash folder.

I haven't actually! I keep on forgetting to do that.. Thanks for the tip

  4. IF next year is going to be the last Glastonbury at Worthy Farm I can't imagine the number of people jumping to get tickets haha. I heard somewhere that every 5 years the festival had to take a break to let the field recover, I am not sure of this source thought.

If you miss the coach, you can collect your ticket at Glastonbury any day of the Festival.

I had a friend who had a Wednesday coach ticket couldn't go till Friday, they just put the ticket in the box office for you to collect at the site.

I've called them and they told me I had to cancel it and retry! I would only got it if i got on the coach... I have actually called to ask if I could do this as I thought I could be able to go on the thursday afternoon and they were like "no, there is no way". I am really pissed at them, this is so dodgy.

    Are you a 100% sure?

    Thanks for the info anyways...

  6. Because I have an exam on the Thursday and it was a coach ticket so I had to take the coach on the Wednesday... Can't really compromise my year for Glasto no matter how much I'd like to hahaha

  7. Hey! Got unlucky which is very frustrating because well, I actually had a coach ticket that I had to sell back and try to get a GA one (was unsucessful). Hopefully will get lucky in the secret resale! Was wondering if a page monitor set every 5sec is enough to get through it?
