  1. just checked and these are not clashing with DMAs at Liverpool Sound City which, while it may seem no biggie to most of you, is a huge relief for me. I think they are great.

  2. One or two mobility related issues in our group has seen us move into campervans the past few years, east initially but more lately West. Next year we want to try the tepee option, given that it is so close to the park and green areas where we spend an awful lot of our time. On a scale of 1 (brick) to 10 (piece of piss) how do-able is getting one? I've never had any problem with cv's but I get the feeling that tepees might be a whole new ballgame. Anyone with any experience?

I cried when I walked into the top of the Pyramid field at exactly the moment Paul Carrick launched into The Living Years.

That got me started too. Rayna James croaking on Nashville didn't help either!

  4. He needs to use his team a little better. Emily Thornberry grows in confidence all the time and Clive Lewis is also very media friendly. Bringing Owen Smithand the Eagle sisters back into the fold would show real leadership qualities, as well as getting some good political heads on board. Abbott and McDonnell are easy pickings for the press: Corbyn has ridden it by engaging at grass roots and cos he is a genuinely 'nice' person. The other two have some good qualities but they aren't 'nice' and don't pretend to be.

  5. Just to clarify. The WV Hill does have a proper staircase. With handrails. Just take your time, pause for a breather, let people pass etc. Will take 2-3 minutes but you only need to do it once, maybe twice a day. I'm a fat bastard and it doesn't bother me.

Any recommendations for where to camp?

First timers. Me and the dad, he's over 50 so no party areas, he wants some sleep.

Will most likely be entering from gate A I'm sure, coming from the north west (Glasgow).

Was looking at michaels mead or hawkwell, but again. No idea!

    Help appreciated

I would head due south, through pylon, to South Park/Baileys. Good atmosphere, plenty of kip to be had and a ten minute walk to the Park which is always a good place to start your day. Take it from a fellow half centurion, your old man will love it there.

  8. New Oranj Son single 'Still' is top effing dollar. Saw them at Liverpool Sound City last week and they were superb. Like a funked up Joy Division.  Cant find a vid anywhere but it's on Spotify etc.

  9. My understanding is that it was inside, in the foyer area. He walked in with all the parents etc who were collecting kids. Security at that stage are more bothered with getting people out, not stopping a handful coming in when the show has finished.

I'm meant to be playing football with Dec tomorrow actually. Any questions need asking?

Yeah ask him to ask Ant who's in the next I'm a Celebrity.

  11. I am likely to be turning up at about 12 noon on Tuesday at West camper van field. A mate who will be staying in it with me won't get there till about 7pm on Tuesday. How does he get in? Will they allow him into CV field? And if so, does he need to buy a permit?

  12. How do the west campervan portaloos stand up over the week? First time vanning this year and one of our group could probably do with fairly hygienic conditions. Was thinking of getting a chemical one to take but if on-site is kept clean then that should be ok....

Hello all, new here.  I have my ticket for Glastonbury this year (so excited), and was planning to do general camping, but a change in circumstance means I would like worthy view.  I would only want a 2 man scout tent.  Any ideas if there is likely to be a resale for this as well as tickets?

    Thank you :)

I got WV about this time last year. Just keep checking site - stuff comes up.

  14. this lot are on at Liverpool Sound City. I have zero idea of their likelihood for Glastonbury!!  This is a pretty commercial version of a sound that is very Northern and gritty the three times I've seen them live. Good to hear those swirling synth grooves coming back though. It's a trend I'm really liking.

  15. Seem to taking forever with the longlist. Usually give us a few weeks to explore the 120 acts before they announce the shortlist to play in April. I wonder if they are going straight to shortlist? Pity if so.

Apologies if this has already been said, I have skim-read some bits of the thread.

As some of you know, I'm not often in the habit of agreeing with @russycarps, but I think his suggestion of making the festival more accessible to those on lower income has merit. The atmosphere may well benefit from greater diversity, and everyone attending would benefit from that.

What I disagree with is the idea of tiered pricing. I'd like people from all walks of life to be able to attend, but I don't think it should be down to the festival (or any other business, come to that) to carry out means testing. The difficulties faced by the unemployed, and those on low incomes, are a national issue, and should be viewed on that scale. If tax levels were tweaked to increase revenue from those on seriously big money, and corporations were obliged to pay tax on their UK business, rather than hiding behind 'registered offices' in tax havens, there would be some serious cash available to be put to good use. Among other things (NHS, education etc.) some of this could easily help those on low or zero income.

Let's say £10 a week per low income person. Not an exorbitant amount, I wouldn't have thought. Then, assuming the person in question was already 'getting by', it would be down to each person to decide what to use that for. If they wanted to save it for a once-a-year thing like glastonbury or a trip abroad, fair enough. If they preferred a weekly trip to the cinema, fine. Maybe a couple of pints with friends, even. Just something to look forward to outside of the day to day grind.

Obviously, that all boils down to the government giving a shit about people, which isn't likely in the near future. Would be nice, though.

    Just my two penneth.

Working tax credits. That's what you have just described basically. Or for those not working - JSA and ESA. The government will tell you that is what they are doing. It's not obviously but that is as good as it is going to get with this lot.
