No, macklemore is not that popular, besides his 2 or 3 hit singles from the heist, no one was really talking about him afterwards. But he will be highly billed as he is one of the few american high profile rappers that regularly tour europe. Definitely not a ticket shifter, like gorillaz/21 pilots on the previous year. But people will still do the festival because of it being the only non-EDM/slightly alternative major festival in the country.
Not much depth added to that promising start.

tbh i was pretty excited about maneskin but their new album is mediocre at best so i am no longer that interested in their show. but that Saturday is still stacked imo.

yes, a concert was announced in Romania today as well in a mid sized venue (approx. 5-6k). i doubt it will sold out.
they have their audience, but it's definitely not a headliner in this part of Europe

i rate this lineup quite highly tbh. lots of interesting names in the undercard, very hyped names as headliners (I don't really like bad bunny too much, but BLACKPINK should be interesting)

I think Ben Howard was third down on main stage in the Pearl Jam day in 2018. He will probably retain his spot.

i learned that reaction on festival pages is a whole different thing than ticket sales. you can have good social media reactions and shitty sales and vice versa.
the backlash on socials is usually overblown.

yes, blur should be a smaller band right now than gorillaz. they only released one album in the last 10 years and it was well received, but they didn't have one hit song in the last 20 years. not sure they are that much of a ticket seller.
they should sell out wembley i guess, but just because it's UK, elsewhere i am not sure they can still sell out stadiums.

Overall i still see it as a mediocre line up for werchter standards, but we'll see.

I think we will have at least two more big names, peggy gou will probably not play main stage (she was booked for hangar in 2022, ultimately dropping off) and i have doubts that george ezra will outright headline without any other big name on the main stage.
last year the main stage headliners were:
Thu: Editors + Moderat
Fri: Deftones(dropped off, replaced by Enter Shikari) + 21 pilots
Sat: Gorillaz + Disclosure
Sun: Aurora

personally i never understood the debate of mad cool vs primavera. besides the fact that they are both in spain i don't see that much overlap in target audience. for me, mad cool is more of a competition for rock werchter from the european festivals . if i were to pick a more similar festival inside spain, i would certainly pick bilbao bbk as the (sort of) competition.

i am almost sure the madrid fest will not sell out and i doubt for barcelona too. almost no incentive to do both weekends as it will not be too clash heavy and the line ups are almost identical. i wouldn't pull the trigger yet for the madrid edition.

i like maneskin and i am really happy to see them on the line up, but calvin harris and skrillex are very uninspired and dated bookings.

The untrustworthy insider was right in every thing he said btw: medium sized pop star (halsey), kdot, blur, edm dj (calvin harris), lana and pheobe not being there, etc.
