In stitches reading a few of these.
Mine was fairly tame compared
"What was Ghandi's last name?"
Although one that tickled me at The Fall
Woman - "What is he signing?"
Bloke - "Fuck knows"

Please don't go putting your mortgage on Blur. Going back about 2 months I remember when they were on at 12/1 and people poured so much money on it that Paddy Power stopped taking bets.
The bookies live for uncertainty like this.

My username used to be my surname - Fletcher.
This was until we had an efestivals meet up circa 2005/6 and a vicious (untrue) rumour spread around that I'd flashed someone. It was all done in jest, so I asked to change to Flasher. Hey presto.
Favourite member - no idea. I haven't frequented the forums much recently so have no clue who anyone is

What's everyones thoughts on Radiohead being there?
I think it's unlikely, but they all are known to go to the festival anyways even when they aren't booked...
Unlikely. I'd love it, but I can't see them coming in as a replacement.
-
You'd think that after Grohl's accident they would have made some enquiries to see who else was avaialble.
If that is the case, which seems likely, then we could hear today.

I get why bands play most of the material from latest album on a regular tour. Makes sense - promotes it and, for their real fans, it's normally good to hear something new.
It's got to be different headlining a festival though. I'd bet that 50+% of fans watching a Pyramid headline set don't have more than one album by the headliners. The famous singles and tracks from standout albums are always going to go down best and I sort of think that most bands will appreciate this.
Not saying that I would hate Blur playing new stuff personally - I've seen them half a dozen times in the past - but I think they'd play a greatest hits set with 4-5 from the new record rather than 9-10.
Try telling that to Biffy Clyro
"Hey Leeds, it's great to be here. We're going to play a lot of songs from our new album, which is out in two weeks time"
Arseholes.

I've been away from the thread for a week and can't be arsed trawling through 40 odd pages.
What is the soup of the day today? I see we've given up on Prince. Is it still Blur?
I repeat what I said some time ago - It's going to be Sting isn't it?
-
It's a holiday, so I make sure I've got enough for ~10 pints throughout the day and enough for hot food at least once or twice.
It's crazy how quick money seems to go at Glastonbury though.
-
What do they want it for? They don't even take all the drugs these days do they?
Apparently not. But rehab centres in Thailand don't come cheap.
I saw them at BST last year and we were approximately 3 AUs from the stage, due to some ridiculous 'Gold Circle' shit they pulled where certain people got to enjoy the gig from a reasonable distance. It lead to a farcical situation where there was a huge gap between the first group of people and the plebs trapped behind the outer barrier. Unimpressed to say the least.

Id have thought libertines more likely than blur
General consensus is that their management want more money than Glasto can offer.
S'all about the money for the boys on the Good Ship Albion these days.
-
Whilst we're on mid noughties Indie bands. I'd love to see Art Brut at Glasto this year.
Criminally underrated.
-
where are !Forward Russia!?
Didnt a member of Hope of the States commit suicide?
iFR! have had one or two reunion gigs over the past year or so, I went to see them at the Brudenell in Leeds.
Time has not been kind to the lead singer.

I don't know what my beef is with Catfish and the Bottlemen.
I think it's the name, but it might be that they arrived about 10 years too late.
-
Queue the news stories of there being a surge in bets on Blur headlining, so it's definitely definitely going to be them. when in reality none of us really know, but that Paddy Power were just offering juicy odds to begin with.
-
You're right. Maybe we should leave them for tomorrow!
Oi. I've already cornered the For Tomorrow pun market!
-
Yeah it 'looks like we might have made it to the end' (of this thread).
Don't worry my friend. For Tomorrow may bring new whiffs of rumours. With added disappointment.
-
All this coalition talk makes me wonder where we'd be with a Proportional Representation vote. Would that make things worse or better?
-
I keep returning to this thread every day expecting to be enlightened. But every day I get more confused and increasingly more stupider...
-
Was there much of a queue at that time for the gates?
Nah we just walked straight in.
-
What's best time to arrive on Wednesday? Is there a thread for this? Not that this thread seems to talk about headliners much anymore :s
Speak to 6 people and you'll get 6 different answers. We got there at 2 last year and still found a spot not far from John Peel stage... Depends if you fancy having a late night/early start and queuing with all the freaks.
-
It's going to be Sting isn't it?
-
Dreamt last night that Pink Floyd had been announced as joint headliner with Dizzee Rascal on the Sunday night....
Need to lay off the cheese and/or smack
-
Just to summarise today's Glastonbury Headliner updates:
There might be some soon, but nobody knows. Except some people who claim to know, but probably don't. -
If they'd have released their new album by now, we could be talking about Radiohead, but I notice not a lot of people are talking about them.
The drummer is on tour with his solo stuff right now, although there is a suspicious 3 month hole which includes Glasto weekend.....
Wishful thinking.
