    hey granty, I remember you.

It sounds like what's changed the most since 2009 is you. Welcome (a bit late of me, but never mind) to fatherhood. :)

Ha ha I suspect you are right! Well as few years away from the old place may help me to discover it all afresh! See you at the meeting then!

  2. Hmm. We'll I'm not exactly new here, I've been an efests Member since 2003! But I've been absent from these shores for quite a while due to becoming a daddy a few years ago and having to also become sensible for a while... But not this year I'm returning to Glastonbury!

So one old guy festie veteran,14th Glastonbury this year, saying hello again to anyone who remembers me. What's changed since 2009!?!

  3. Daveinafield Im in the same wonderful situation! Missing my first Glasto in 15 years cos of the birth of my baby boy Lachlan Fox in May. The best reason not to go to Glasto, and yet Im still feeling the pull......especially since I met my wife at Glasto in 2004, via efests!! (Stripey Socks if anyone remembers her!) Have a fantastic time everyone, enjoy a proper sunny Glasto, and whoever has my ticket, ENJOY!!!

See you all next year with my step son Seb, and in a couple of years Ill enjoy being an oldun with the family in tow!

    Love n peas

  4. It was emotional. We were at the front, and the power coming off the stage was immense. I've waited a long time to see Neil at Glasto and he didn't just exceed my expectations, he stamped all over them screwed them into a tiny ball and blasted them over the pyramid. When he stalked on and launched straight into Hey Hey My My me and my mate just looked at each other and I think we were both feeling it somewhat..! Absolutely mind feckingly good. My all time best gig and best Glasto gig.... Wish we were still in that field!!

  5. 1 Neil Young. Waited 16 years to see him at Glasto and it was worth it....especially him coming out and launching straight into Hey Hey My My....it was emotional.

2 The King Blues at Avalon - storming set, Im a convert!

3 Wonder Stuff at Avalon dancing myself silly in the mosh pit as if I was 18 again....then realising very soon afterwards that Im actually 37...ouch!

4 Tinariwen on the Pyramid in the sun...just perfect!

And not a band but sitting by the Cider Bus on Thursday watching the lightning trying to hit the horns on 5co77ie's helmet...trust me you had to be there! :)

  6. Does anyone know the best route to get to the west car park from London. All the instructions above are from the M5 but I don't really want to go all that way to come back again. I'm presuming if I follow the instructions from London on the Fine Guide (via A37) I'd end up in the east car park.
  7. Ah heck why not...

Metoffice 5 day for Yeovilton below

    http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/sw/...st_weather.html

They're putting the worst risk of showers for Thurs morning?! But apart from a risk of a light shower on sat, otherwise its sunny...

So looks like we get to play the wonderful game called Glastonbury Weather Russian Roulette... Spin the weather system and pull the trigger, do ya feel lucky punk?!

I think I need to go for a lie down in a field with a cider.... Oh hang on...!

  8. Id say go to the interview. I did something similar years back. Was offered an interview on the Wednesday so we all piled down to the place where the interview was, I did the interview while my mates found a convenient pub, I came out and found them, changed out of my interview suit into Glasto gear and off we went and had a fantastic festie...even though it turned into a mud year... And I got the job!

So yes, go to the interview......but don't do the mud fest thing like I did B):D;)

  9. Some reassuring-ish words off a couple of Netweather regulars over on the Glastonbury forecast thread. (Would post a link but can't from work..) TWS seems to say yes it looks like rain at the weekend but showery which means its all a bit hit and miss. Snowyowl then saying depends which model you look at and suggesting that gfs 06z is showing dry easterly winds for the weekend with less chance of rain...

All looks a bit uncertain to me for the weekend - could go either way I suppose. So its all to play for still, don't be disheartened!

  10. I usually camp in Pennards and have walked there from both the west and east car parks. IMHO the west car parks are closer to Pennards...although not as close as they used to be before the site was extended (I remember when it was all fields round here etc etc grumble grumble lol). And on west side, as has been said, there is no hill of death. And trust me that really is some hill...!

  11. Kinda like the tale of the tortoise and the hare :D

I think, and William mentioned this too, smoking less of the green stuff also helps. That stuff can completely wipe you out without warning....in 2003 I was tired after smoking too much so decided to have a little sleepy before Faithless (this was at about 6pm). I didn't wake up again until 10.30pm, only managing to catch the last song Faithless did and most of that was heard on the walk towards the stage :(

Don't get me wrong though, I still like to get completely and utterly trashed on the Wednesday :(

  12. I'm a tad pissed off by that 06z Aragorn, I REALLY hope it's an outlier for the end of the festival, and that revised updates manage to settle things back down to more settled throughout. It's frustrating, because we'll be so close to that High Pressure still, all it has to do is get a tad more stubborn and stay closer ...

Steve's updated forecast is very welcome, and by no means bad, but I think he may be just a little too pessimistic on the chance of low cloud/mist -- as scorp said, with Easterly winds, this ought to be less prevalent in the West.

Waiting on the Met Office's update with baited breath, should be with us within the next half hour ...

  13. Well just had a look at the latest charts on netweather and to my uneducated eye, the 18z gfs charts are now showing a great big fat high pressure system sat over Somerset through the whole festival? 12z ECM not quite so big and fat but still controlling the weather nicely...

If the model runs carry onlike this all day, I should think JACKONE will be back to an 8 at least by the update this evening?????

My productivity at work has gone down the plughole with all this excitement! Im being taken over by thoughts of sunny fields, cold cider and party!

  14. OK so I've been trying not to get too carried away with the forecasts... But since its looking like this Glasto could see the my best Glasto weather since 94 ..... I thought Id see if I could dig out a weather chart from the end of June 1994. Glasto 94 was Sun City.. Wall to wall blue sky and hot from Wednesday to Sunday....with apparently a spot of rain on Sat night which was so pathetic I didn't notice it. WoW will remember...!! :P

    1994 here

    2009 here

Erm...spot the difference?!? Bit more of a breeze, from a slightly less warm place....but if anything, this year is looking better???! :)

Need to go and touch lots of wooden things now... :)

  15. One of our favourite bands Blackbud, who have a new album out are set to play a brace of 'intimate' shows at the small Fluffy Rock Café stage on the Green Fields. Originally the band weren't going to

play as the decision on the album release and tour schedule were confirmed far too late to apply properly to the festival so everyone was going as a punter.

There have been quite a few fan requests for a Blackbud get together so the band decided to play as they first started at the festival ie small 'real festival'

Apparently some good quality acts are playing Fluffy Rock including the Black Swan Effect (on tour supporting Peter Gabriel) on Saturday night

    Blackbud will play:

    Thursday 9 to 9.45pm

    Friday 2 to 2.45 pm

    see you there.

  16. Everything that he said ^^^^^^^^

Every year I've been to Glasto I've been praying that Shakey would play.

He was one of THE figures of the sixties folk scene.

He was at Woodstock hanging with Hendrix.

He is the only artist that Dylan said he was scared of sharing a stage with.

He can play acoustic folk that reaches into your soul or blistering rock like the end of the world

He was trying to call Kurt Cobain during the last days, and 'Its better to burn out than to fade away' is one of his lines

He is one of the most important musicians of the last 40 years and Glasto was made for him.

Im a little bit of a fan!

Listen to Hey Hey My My, Cortez the Killer, Needle and the Damage Done, After the Goldrush...just Spotify and enjoy!

  17. Found out last night that the shop at the bottom of the road stocks the stuff.....its 10 seconds away from here at a sprint.....and just as I was starting to turn my back on the sweet loveliness in favour of cider...... Damn you Brothers Bar!!! ;)

  18. Im reading The Man in the High Castle by Phillip K Dick.... Very very good. Another take on the what would happen if the Axis had won WW2 but from the US perspective!

Last read The Algebraist by Iain M Banks. Brilliant as always
