  1. How about getting a cheap ticket on the Virgin Trains website to London, then going from London Paddington to Castle Cary? If you click on the 'lowest fares' section they give you cheaper tickets but are usually off peak so not good if you want to get to Glastonbury at a specific time.

Alternatively, National Express run coaches to Glastonbury for £55. there's coaches all through the night from Manchester so can get to Glasto when the gates open.

  2. (Sorry for double post but..) Just a heads up if you are getting coach tickets for Chester... I'm getting the coach from Birkenhead and there's only one coach that goes straight to the festival without changes (gets to the festival at 3pm), and it stops at Chester on the way. So I'm assuming the seats on this coach will be limited if it's stopping in two different towns on the way to Glastonbury?

  3. Your best bet is going with National Express. It's £55, they pick you up, then drop you off at the festival gates, no fuss. A lot easier than changing trains with all your stuff, then getting yourself on a shuttle bus to the festival.

  4. I'm a Glastonbury newbie so just want to ask something about paying the balance.I can't find the e-mail I got back in October when we got the tickets with my ticket reference number, etc. Does seetickets/Glastonbury send this information out before the payment window in April or will I have to ring seetickets? My other half bought the tickets but I remember getting a confirmation e-mail myself for my ticket.

  5. I personally think they will. They've been teasing about it for months. If they weren't doing it they would have simply said 'No'. The Eavises surely would have squashed rumours by now, and it would be exclusive news for the festival so keeping it under wraps until the announcement is probably a good option. But with the Stones being massive diva bastards most of the time, I wouldn't put it past them to say 'no' at the last minute. They'd be mad not to play, it's pretty much their last chance.

  6. So, as a Glastonbury newbie I thought I'd ask - What kind of bag do you usually take to use on an average day at Glastonbury?

I've been to other festivals before, and hate checking my bag every five seconds to make sure my purse and camera are still there. But I usually go back to the campsite at around 6ish to stock up on supplies.

But at Glastonbury, because the site is so big (and you can take alcohol anywhere on site) I will now need extra space for (lots of) alcohol, waterproofs, hoody, and essentials for day. I don't think I can handle a trek back to camp whenever I need something! What kind of bag do you suggest I take? Or should I keep stuff in the lock ups?

I'm thinking bum bag (snazzy) for my valuables, and then a tote bag for everything else? I don't really fancy using a backpack either, because I've got a feeling someone could sneak in there whilst watching bands.

  7. There's only one coach from where I live to Glastonbury, and doesn't arrive at the festival until 15:00. From what I've been reading that's a rubbish time to arrive in terms of camping spots? I'm not too bothered if it's not in the best campsites, as long as it's not too far of a trek everyday!

  8. This is also my first Glastonbury and also coming from Liverpool way. Are the lockers worth using? At other festivals I've been put off the price. Are they trustworthy to use? Sick of having to watch my bag every two minutes in crowds, would be the perfect solution to keep important stuff locked up.
