He'll have been and gone by Glasto. He's in Vienna on the Friday, Nimes (France) on the Saturday and Zurich on the Monday. Whilst that technically leaves Sunday free, it would be a logistical nightmare getting him and his orchestra over and back out again. Shame!

Ah i see, fair enough. Yeah a real shame! Feel like glasto have missed a trick there

  2. I've never been to Kendal Calling before but think it looks brill and the acts announced so far are amazing!

Just wondering what kind of stuff there is to do at night, as i've only been to Leeds Fest before where there is the silent disco and stuff. Is there similar things here?

Also if anyone has been to y-not as well as this one what are the differences between the two as i'm trying to make a decision between them!

    Thank you!

  3. Would be happy to see any of the following in the announcement (I'm aware some of them are unlikely)

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Bastille, Jamie T, Spector, The 1975, Swim Deep, Kodaline, The Kooks (where have they gone??), Chase & Status, Peace, Blink, The Skints, Fatboy Slim, Imagine Dragons, Everything Everything, Azealia Banks, Tribes, Dog Is Dead and Palma Violets.

  4. Mentioned him the other day, he'd be great on the 1xtra stage. I doubt he'd be to big as he's definitely not bigger than BBK over here.

Thrift Shop is a great little song but your right in saying his best stuff is the more meaningful. Same Love, Wings and Other Side are great. Same Love is my favourite.

  5. What do you think the chance are of Macklemore playing? Possibly headlining the Radio 1 xtra stage? (although he could be too big for that) Personally I think he's one of the best things to happen to Hip Hop in a long time, his songs are catchy but remain meaningful, rather than just droning on about pussy and weed.

If you fancy listening to one of his songs, skip Thrift Shop - his most famous but not his best - and head to Same Love, Wings or Other Side.

  6. Just a thought, probs lots of problems with it, haha

  7. Dont understand why people are putting forward Dizzee Rascal as a sub? Since he last appeared he has done absolute nothing, no new tracks and certainly not a new album. Just don't know how they could justify him keeping the same spot!

  8. ah I didn't even actually mention TV adverts, I was thinking more of an internet campaign, just to perhaps whip up more interest? It was just an idea, as obviously the festival hasn't been selling as well as it used to. And I also don't think lack of advertising is why it hasn't been selling, but I believe that could be a way of helping it to sell better

  9. This is slightly off topic but does anyone else think RnL could do with a bit of a marketing booster? Just because sales have been slightly off the last few years, and they're obviously trying to do the best they can with the line-up, but you barely ever see anything around promoting the festival? I mean i'm pretty new to this (please don't shoot me down) but I get the impression that Melvin is pretty stuck in his ways, perhaps he feels the Festival has enough of a legacy to sell itself? Which in my opinion it does, but these days things are changing and I guess you have to adapt to keep up. I saw this video online of Tomorrowland in Belgium (obviously a completely different kind of festival to RnL) but I just thought their marketing strategy was spot on, it makes the festival look like something new and exciting and generates anticipation. Just a thought. Oh and last year, Tomorrowland tickets sold out in 5 minutes!

  10. Maybe they're not heavy metal/ rock with lots of electric guitars and drums, but I don't really understand how you can class mumford as 'smooth, calm acoustic folk', listen to Babel and you'll clearly see that. I personally think they would be fantastic headliners.
