Springsteen has announced his 2023 European tour (minus UK & Belgium), seems to be a gap from 1st - 11th July which could be around the time BST happens next year

I really, really hope not, but rumours suggest it will be so.☹️

  2. And the Duran Duran line-up is still incomplete.
The absence of Stones support info is particularly infuriating. I'd like to give them my money, but I don't want to choose a date and later find out that someone I really like is supporting them on the other date.

I still think Grace Jones may turn up on one of those three shows.

  3. I'm waiting to see who the support artists are.  It's infuriating that they keep so much information back.  They still haven't finished announcing the Duran Duran line-up, and I had bought tickets for that when it was first advertised, largely because of the inclusion of Grace Jones.

Gonna take a stab at Jack White (June 26th only), Noel Gallagher (July 3rd only), Primal Scream, Sharon van Etten, Fontaines DC, Grace Jones, Inhaler, Buzzcocks, Brooke Combe. Well, this whippersnapper would enjoy that, at least.

Half of those were quite randomly plucked, but all of them seem to be active and in Europe at the end of June!

Grace Jones was originally in the line-up for Duran Duran day, but much to my disappointment her name hasn't reappeared after the postponements.  I did say earlier that I wouldn't want to see her added to a different day, but I'd be happy to see her on the Stones day - provided we know in good time.  Would hate to book the wrong day!  She is appearing at Meltdown at the South Bank Centre in mid-June.

I had similar thoughts about Gwen Stefani on that day. I loved No Doubt as a kid and apparently she does a few of their songs in her setlist so with No Doubt having not toured the UK in 20 years I'd figured it'd probably be the closest I can get to seeing them but she's just disappeared from the line-up.

It's really frustrating, isn't it?  That looked like such a great party day.  I suppose it still is, but Grace Jones was a major part of the attraction for me.  What I don't want to see is Grace added to the line-up on a different day as I'm not really interested in any of the others so far.  🤞

  6. Yes, well, no need to pour cold water over it.  Most of us are wanting to be optimistic, we need something to look forward to.

Personally I don't mind if it's moved to September, I am just looking for positive signs that we might still get some overseas artists.

These generic emails don't mean anything.

Last year a tonne of events were 'going ahead' until they were cancelled or postponed.

I was responding to Crimson King's post:  "Heard a whisper that they aren’t currently moving the dates / changing the line up announced, and Sept is only a back up plan."

Having heard nothing about it for ages, it was interesting for it to resurface now, particularly as it concerns a non-UK artist.

  8. Oxford vaccine ready for deployment from Monday, and they are aiming to ramp it up beyond one million a week once they get going.  I don't think the decision to delay the second jab is a problem, as this is apparently seen more as a booster to prolong immunity rather than increase it.

    True, but set against that:

    - I don't expect 50somethings (the target demographic) to have been vaccinated by then. There will some nervousness about mass events.

    - Unemployment will be up considerably. An expensive day out if you are out of work.

I would expect most of them to have been vaccinated by June.

Affordability is a good point, but otoh some people will have actually saved money because of not going out.

  10. Maybe, but everyone's been starved of live music events this year, so that will probably fetch a lot of people out.  And following the vaccine announcements, there is going to be more confidence that this event will happen.

Ha! I was in about the third row for that gig! Wasn't hard to get to the front - opposite of BST!

I nearly got to touch her as she came along the front high-fiving everyone but my arms are too short  😁

Grace Jones a massive upgrade for me.

Easily one of the top 10 performers I've ever seen.

Without a doubt.  I saw her at the little Blackheath festival last year and managed to get second row.  She is a goddess.

Just booked for the Duran Duran show, largely influenced by the presence of Grace, although we won't get anywhere near this time.
