It is the 'Kent Clearvu System'. Developed during WW2 for destroyers. It is a disc of glass which rotated very fast. fitted to my lorry as it used to be a snowblower and wipers can't keep up in a blizzard. As it was made by ship builders the whole windscreen surround etc is made of brass!

I thought so! I came over for a look at the truck in daylight but you weren't around. I said to my friend that I thought it might be one of those rotating windows. I remember seeing them on a Destroyer at the Navy days when I was a kid.

I came up on Friday to rescue a caravan.  Saw you guys but you were busy and I'd spent an hour and a half slithering around in Shangri-la crew camping mud pit failing to get anywhere  near the caravan so didn't stop to say hello. Feel for you guys trying to get everything off site in those conditions.

Not nearly as bad, but some areas are more cut up due to more plant being needed for the build and take down.  One huge crane needed five giant tractors to pull it off.

Is that the one that got stuck on the track by West Holts on Monday? There was a lot of head scratching going on when I walked past. :D

  3. Could be worse.  At least you all got out.

I've been down to the site today and it's chaos.  Tried to rescue my friends caravan in Shangri-la crew camping and I couldn't even get close to it. I've got a decent 4x4 and mud tires but the ground is really churned up and everyone is being towed out by tractors. Had to wait 45 mins while a guy who had slipped and dislocated his hip in the mud was rescued. Lots of muddy churned up areas all over the site making everything harder work for the crew packing down.

  4. I'm a slightly different circumstance to you guys. Queued all the way on the A37 and along to the camper fields to get to Blue gate as I'm supposed to be on site only for them to close the gate and direct me back off to the Bath & West. :(

Another day. Seven hours of queuing wasted. Attempt three tomorrow?

  5. Just hopped in the shower and put amazon radio on my Bluetooth speaker.  First up 'Here comes the sun' followed by 'Hot summer nights'. Taking this as a sign.  Heading sitewards in a few hours.

Another tip, if bringing a camera or a phone is to take a photo of your "owner details" as the first photo so that if it's lost it can be returned to you.

Slightly off the main topic but if, like me, you lock your phone and have an Android.  You can put a message on the lock screen.  Normally I have an 'If found please call...' with my home number and email.  While at the festival I have my parents number and a friend who is with me's. You can probably do the same with an iPhone, dunno as I've never had one. Worth locking your phone though so people can't go through it.

  7. I was planning to try and use up some stuff before I leave tomorrow but I've been running around all day sorting bits and pieces out so when I drove past the fish'n'chip van in the village down the road I couldn't resist. :P

Anyone else feeling slightly down about the weather/mud? 2 weeks ago it was awesome weather and yet again as the festival comes round its a mess. This will be my 9th festival and only 1 has been dry. Better dig out the waterproofs again.

This is my 13th festival and I think only 2010 has been totally dry.  I came back after my first one in 97 and had great fun and there is nothing to stop me keeping coming back and having fun.  A bit of rain or mud won't stop the Glastonbury spirit.  If anything it brings out the camaraderie.

Plus if pees down I get to pull people out with my Landcruiser on Monday. :D

  9. Just been at a toddlers birthday party with a friend who works for the met office.  She says they'll be discussing it and releasing their official forecast tomorrow but it's very difficult to predict.

  10. It's raining consistently and reasonably heavily here in Devon now.  Hopefully it all falls on us before it reaches a Somerset but I guess it's part of the same band of rain.

  11. The problem I see with Lulu's issue is that she has proof the tickets were delivered then she has proof that two packages she posted were lost by Royal Mail. She doesn't however have proof that what she posted (and subsequently got lost) were the tickets though. Its really going to be down to the discretion of the box office people and convincing them she's genuine.

  12. Ah, I really wanted to see you with that hat on! Looks amazing.

Good to see you guys again for another year. Was going to pop my head in on Monday and say goodbye but ended up roped into ferrying peoples stuff to their cars, changing a girls wheel and wandering around trying to find the caravan I was supposed to tow home. Which I found eventually. Glad you had a good one.

  13. Wouldn't bother me.  My mum and stepfather are vegetarian so from the age of about 8 I lived in a veggie household.

I tend to stick to the vegetarian options at Glastonbury anyway.  Like mentioned its often safer and you get more bang for your buck.

Got myself a gigantic Manic Organic potato and chickpea curry before I left yesterday afternoon.  It was awesome.

  14. I thought they were great. Up there with the best performances I've seen over 12 Glastonburys. I thought Rogers voice held up pretty well. It was exactly what I wanted from a big name legend type slot. Suprised how many of their songs I knew. Most friends I've talked to seemed to enjoy it too.

  15. My ticket fell through on Monday when I was due to be on site Tuesday.  I'm sat sulking at home in Devon with the rain lashing down.  Hopefully we've taken the brunt of it for you lucky peoples.
