  1. The excitement of getting there is great, but better for me is when you finally get to sit down after an all night/all day struggle to your pitch...your tent up, 180,000 friendly faces, great group of mates camped around that differs every year, you open (another) cider....and the anticipation of what is to come is IMMENSE!!!

Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it :D

  2. Just stopped by to say hi during another insomniac episode!

Would be on more if the android app was ready...but don't spose it is :(

But EVERY weekend since the fest, we have carried on the glasto spirit and partied our arses off....plus had to get Leeds tickets for this coming Fri during our awful glasto comedown....Elbow and Muse baby!!!!! :)

  3. I didn't venture too far as getting done for trespass wasn't on my to-do-list that day, but I would be interested to know how far into the site you can wander without getting into trouble? The OS map seems to show various tracks running right by the Pyramid stage, are these a public right of way?

  4. 4th glasto, and for the first time...

Got cidered up at both bus, brothers bar and pussy parlour.

Got mashed on more than just pills and weed.

Didn't get to see a band before 6pm due to enjoying the company I was in.

Put 5 tents up in the rain!!!

  5. i've never come across anyone who's been opposed to a gazebo being put up in the 4 years i've been to glasto, to be honest.

this is the first year we've taken one and it will be well used, and not just sit there unattended for 5 days.

surely, each group of people are expected to have some kind of communal area, whether a group of 2 or 22?!?!

for me, it's the communal feel of those camped around you that are the icing on the cake of the whole festival :)

  6. to be honest, as long as it isn't pissing down and blowing a gale by 10am on weds when i hope to be setting up the 5 tents i gotta erect, then the weather can do what the hell it likes after that!!

I'll be at glasto, beer in hand taking it all in for another year!!! :D

Although, friday all day in the sun at 20degrees (according to bbc earlier) will be bloody great!

  7. it may well be elbow, for the special guest at the park slot.

gutted if it comes to it....hoping the special guest is shite so i can run on down to see elbow...but even then we won't get a good spot.

idiot some may say...but if i missed radiohead or killers as special guest at park i would be truly gutted!

    edit for spelling

  8. Convinced weather will be pretty good throughout the fest now....happy happy happy :)

but tues night/weds morning may be damp and very windy. Not ideal for putting up tents!! Or for queueing at the entrance all night as planned :(

  9. Missed 2005 and 2007, but the first time we went was 2004, and we almost went home mid afternoon after a colossal downpour on the Sunday.

Sat in front of the pyramid stage, tarpaulin over our heads, still getting drenched, barely anyone around as far as the eye could see while christy o'connor (or some such name - folk singer, Irish) sang something atrocious. Miserable, wet, cold without hope.

We stayed and caught Muse. Our lives changed forever.

We look back and think just how much we loved that festival :)

  10. Plans aplenty....that all go outta the window as I get carried along in all the excitement once on site :D

But that's beauty of glasto...a different experience every time, and that's how I discover new amazing bands!!

  11. Think lots more people will get there Tuesday as it was a breeze last year. But still can't see it being as bad as weds morning.

I've learnt the back roads so should get there easily again, I hope :D

  12. Never been a fan, but have changed my musical tastes dramatically over the years,so tried to give him a chance to win me over in 2004.

    Failed 'miserably' :D

We were with a die hard morrissey fan who was so gutted at his hero's performance, that he packed up his tent and left straight after!

Will see some of him this year, and wish he would change my mind.

Can I ask.....is there ANY chance of him performing

    'how soon is now?'?

  13. Not a fan of U2 though I like some of their 80s stuff which they'll undoubtedly play. But it's f**king U2, it'll be huge and a spectacle and it's a rare occurrence so I'll probably see them.

  14. Some people tend to behave in a really inconsiderate manner, I believe this is in part to us Glasto goers being a really tolerant bunch.Just because we are laid back it doesn't mean we have to tolerate loutish behaviour. Here are a few of my gripes, what are yours?

    1, Smoking in undercover areas

2, Swearing in front of ladies

3, Gentlemen not giving up their seat for ladies or older folk

    4, Ladies drinking pints

    5, Ladies with hairy legs/armpits

    I might add more later

  15. Had a fine time in 04 and 09 on beer and wine, but dabbled in 2010, and enjoyed it again :)

As long as it enhances and doesn't wreck my experience, then f**k it, I'll try it! I'd be gutted to miss a highlight of the festival thru being monged....and this is a far cry from now I used to feel in my twenties when I was quite reproachful and apprehensive about added extras!

Will see what I can get me hands on :D
