  1. Rain creeping back in on the Friday then it seems. Changing every day (whoulda thunk it) but getting more accurate the closer we get.

Better to get it out of the way early in the weekend, Saturday/Sunday still looking glorious, and the most important Monday for taking the tent down again.

  2. Yeah that's annoying, when i bought my tickets it said it was 4pm open, so i booked my train to get in to Inverness for half 3. But now it won't open until 6. At least the weather will be excellent while we are waiting. Party at the gates!

  3. The fact that Fatboy Slim was there at the birth of RockNess, and the ticket sales are so poor its only fitting he's here again for what is probably the last one.

Take a few years off and see about doing an anniversary special a few more years down the line, or even a single day rather than the whole weekend.

  4. Yeah there is a box office at the entrance to the main arena, and day tickets are on sale for £59 per day. Ticket sales seem to be pretty slow (the whole of tier 4 tickets seems to have been dropped) i doubt they would turn you away on Friday or there being any risk of a sellout.

Weather is looking superb for the whole weekend though, see /topic/175390-weather-and-so-far-so-good/#entry4041869">http://www.efestivals.co.uk/forums/topic/175390-weather-and-so-far-so-good/#entry4041869 for several weather site links

  5. Email from RockNess today had some info about missing tickets:

    TICKET INFORMATION

We understand that some of you have not received your tickets yet, we apologise for that. Our main ticket agent Frontgate has reassured us that all tickets will be with you by Monday 3rd June. If you haven't received your tickets by then please contact your point of purchase.

  6. Just think its stupid as they already charge an extortionate booking fee, so postage should be included in that.

If they increased the already ridiculous booking fee by £2.75 and said Postage was included i wouldn't know any different.

But yeah glad they are finally here!!!

  7. Yeah you can upgrade to VIP on the day, no it won't be any cheaper (otherwise no one would buy VIP tickets if it worked out cheaper to buy a normal ticket then upgrade it for less than buying VIP outright - if it does work out cheaper i will be mega pissed off).

Not entirely sure about the car parking as don't use it myself, but it seems to be included in the price (you'd hope so for the extortionate amount you are paying) - and the VIP carpark is right next to VIP camping.

We've only ever done VIP so can't comment on the difference, but the campsite is quieter with more room, its that little bit closer to the arena, it has a later opening bar (and less queues), proper flushing toilets that are kept cleaner and stocked with toilet roll, and decent clean showers, all make it worthwhile for me anyway.

  8. Going by the last few years the times don't get released till like the day before, otherwise no one would buy their overpriced lanyards. Stage splits are on the website already though.

  9. One of the best things about rocky is wandering around and seeing and hearing things you wouldn't usual (going with the flow). So i think ist you You is strange and also a little confused

  10. Yeah take a printout with you when you go to the pickup point, They then give you a wristband for the return journey, keep it somewhere very safe so its not wrecked by the Monday, sounds obvious i know but I saw loads of people just putting it on there and then, be very surprised if all of them still had them by Monday.

  11. Reverend & The Makers probably your best bet. I'm more into the bands than the DJs too, but i have to say its a pretty poor selection this year. But i'm willing to be proved wrong.

Doesn't seem to be anything like last year with the likes of The View (who quite literally were bringing the tent down so had to get rescheduled the next day to finish their set off), Sound of Guns, The Pigeon Detectives.

Alabama 3 should be a good set, can't say i'm familiar with any of it, but from what i hear they put on a decent live show.

  12. Welcome!

Travel time all depends on whether you want a nice relaxed afternoon in the campsite before the arena opens, i believe the campsites open around 12 (i'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong), but the arena itself doesn't open until 4pm, so the earlier you are there the more time you have for getting set up and working out where everything is in the campsite (toilets, water, food places, lights, security etc) and a relaxing few beverages with your new campsite friends before heading into the arena.

The later in the afternoon you plan on going remember to add up to an hour on to your expected travel time as the road to the festival itself can slow down to a crawl. So that is one advantage to an earlier start, less waiting in queues.

We've always arrived between 12 and 1 (mostly due to the happy bus arrival times), more choice for setting up, the later you get there the less spots available.

  13. Think it all depends on the security, last year the ones at the VIP arena entrance watched me buy a bottle of Sprite open it and take one drink, then went to wander back to my tent to get some voddie, wouldn't let me back into VIP with the bottle as it was open, despite him watching me just buy it. What an arse, they were stopping loads of people as there was a small mountain of bottles by the entrance. Yet few hours later when the shift changed the next lot didn't say a thing when folk were walking past drinking from their tinnies. Some security are just unbelievably stupid - the no open bottles is for the main entrance to the whole festival, not from the arena back into the campsites, morons! They give the good security a bad name.

  14. From the last few years the acts i have most looked forward to seeing have been a bit of a letdown, its the random ones i didn't expect to be that good that have blown me away - so don't go in with too many expectations and just enjoy the journey.

Also - without saying what your general likes are how can anyone help with recommendations. Me personally i go more for the bands than the DJs, Comedy lineup looking pretty good this year - Jim Jefferies is excellent live, Daniel Sloss was superb last year.

  15. 4 weeks to go!!!

The day splits are up on the facebook page for the main acts, but not on the actual RockNess website yet.

Hopefully get some more announcements soon so round out the lineup. Come on RockNess you do yourself no favours by not telling us anything, except trying to punt tickets - you need band/DJ announcements to do that, not just coach travel offers and the return of the jagertruck!

  16. Been VIP last few years (just for the decent showers and toilets), never actually seen any of the acts they put on or what ever other entertainment exclusive to VIP, have to make a point of checking it out this year.

I don't know what the food stalls were like in normal camping, but the breakfast bus in VIP last year was amazing! I thought the other food stalls in the VIP area were pretty similar to what was in the arena. Our campsite neighbours last year tried the champagne bar and said it was a total ripoff for not very decent champagne, didn't notice any cocktails.

As to the relaxation stuff costing extra, i would assume not (can't sday as never looked into them), we paid enough to get in VIP, taking the piss if they then charge more for some of the 'benefits' - might aswelll just have them in the arena.
