Five mins watching this goes to show how many people do look to the benefit system for a life style.

End of old thread:

Seems sensible to create a new thread...

I can't help laugh at the madness operating at the moment regarding the new child care arrangement.
Basically all parents will get the usual 16 hour free nursery care and then outside of that, if both parents work, you will get further help with childcare costs due to both of you being unavailable.
So can anyone explain to me why a stay at home parent would need additional childcare arrangement outside of the 16 hours because its gone over my head. If one of the parents is not working and available to care for a child why is it wrong to have the expectation that they do so ?
Its gone right over my head unsurprisingly
Most people have been saying working parents need help with childcare, it comes, and it blows up Crazy

Quite surprised no one has posted about it... Used to be a right hotbed of debate this forum now its boring conversations about football
Thoughts ?
After £7 million spent on the inquiry it seems like an utter waste given Cameron is going to do sweet fuck all about it. Seems the press have their license once again to do what the fuck they want and ruin the lives of normal people as they see fit. Good day yesterday, not.

Its hard to know what is funnier...
Jimmy Carr being attacked for doing nothing illegal...
The fact he is has actually said sorry...
Or watching the primer minister having the balls to talk about morality (MP expenses cough & I wonder how many MPs are doing similar things)...

What are peoples thoughts on IVF ?
I think its a shocking waste of money and has no place being funded on the NHS.
I couldn't imagine having a kid at 42... Being in my 30s and having one is hard enough lol...

Overall seemed not too bad.... I thought it would of been worse... Good that the basic rate has been upped. Lib dem win there...

So here we go again
Don't know how many people are still going to be following the sport with the TV changes but thread is here if people want to comment
Finding the Sky Coverage so far very good. Much more in depth, more about the sport rather than what shirts certain people are wearing. Which I like a lot. Blundell said he didn't feel they was telling the whole weekend story at the BBC and I agree. It was far too much about the personalities rather than the actual machines, numbers, times, technical stuff. Looking forward to see how good a job they do with qualifying and the race
So far McLaren looking in a good place and so is Mercedes Shocker was Red Bulls poor performance this morning. Although they are probably just playing their usual games. But saying this, there is A LOT of work going on in the Red Bull garage so they certainly didn't have the day they planned. Ferrari look in a world of pain. Although this mornings numbers from Alonso where encouraging for them.
Driver wise, Schumacher looks ready to go for it this year. Which will be interesting! Hamilton looks like a man on a mission and Button looks happy and ready to go for it as well. Be interesting to see how much better Paul Di Resta can do in the Force India as well. Could be a good year for the Brits but who knows until we get some numbers in Qualifying.
I am still not convinced by Seb... He has had two of the easiest World Champions I have ever known. There was no challenge last year as the only man in a car fast enough to challenge him did nothing. I want to see him come under preasure and see how he responds. We saw him drop the ball in Canada when under pressure but then did better later in the year.

So what do you have to do to get a bonus of £1 million when your basic is £1.2 million...
Boardroom pay is just mind boggling stupid....
-
On the face of it this seem entirely reasonable to me...
Can someone point out whats wrong with it ?
You have to earn £35,000 to come out with a Net of £26,000... So to cap benefits at a £35,000 salary seem more than a resonable thing....

The guy has no consistency and really can't get his message straight...
First he is against the cuts...
Then he agrees with the cuts...
And now he wants to increase the public sector further...

Chuffed about this...
It was a very unfair policy the way some would keep it but others lose it (£38K + £38K keeps it but £46k would lose it).. If it was set on family income instead of just one earners position it would been more fair.
But I belive in some Uniersal Benefits and this really does go directly to my kid to support her so chuffed it is staying.
I know it's going to piss some off though...

Like the way this one has hit the headlines during a period when no one is paying attention... Good time to break bad news...
I think the idea is disgusting... Although it 'might' bring in extra money there is no doubt waiting list are going to rocket...
Glad I have private medical insurance as this is going to fuck up the NHS big time...

This strikes accord with me because we have a little bitter... She gets over excited and sometimes grabs other children and can try to kiss them which can become a bite... She is 20 months old... This could easily be my kid they are talking about...
The two year old has been branded Chucky, parent went to the police about the evil child, and according to the comments on the daily mail site, parents like me are evi and should lose our children
It takes time to drum the kids into understanding the consequences of their actions and what youneed most as a parent is the understanding of other parents as you try to push your kid on the right track.
Obviously there is the real issue behind all this as to where the hell the adults where to allow it to develop into this level.
I really hate the mail and it's readers....

Government want to bring in a very small tax break for married couples as a tip of the hat towards marriage being a good thing. Is this is a good or bad thing ?
My opinion is...
I am marriage and a small tax break is not going to make a huge difference to if I stay married or got married in the first place. But like most things our society needs to decide what is the best approach and what should be encouraged and the statics behind marriage and families are rock solid.
When I say it wouldn't make a big difference in me getting married it would make some difference. The government laying out it believe this is a good path will have some impact on people choices. Government does help mould ideas, values and choices. Just as your parents, teachers and in some cases, religious leaders do. Government does have a role in this.
I am all for it. Its not enough to make a real financial impact on the family but it is a tip of the hat to you doing something that is more likely, proven statistics, to help your family work...
The flip is of course a whole benefit system that, I believe, actively encourages couples not to commit to marriage. How you solve that though without still helping those who really do need help is beyond me though.
No doubt I will no here about how x,y and z have been together 20 years without getting marriage and spectacularly miss the point The numbers prove married people with children stick together more than none married couples with children.

Worth a look...
I am a loser to the tune of £27k - ouch
Not that it really bothers me too much - fair society and all that.
Interesting listening to the video above where Nick rightly says how it is difficult for politicians as the ones in the bottom categories complain the most they get little back from government when they get massively more than what they pay in.

This has been annoying me for a while now...
Bought tickets to see someone in the coming days who I am a big fan of and bought tickets in the pre-sale which was only sent out to "fans". They aren't big enough to have a big tout following etc so I am pretty sure mostly fans would of got the pre-sale link.
Anyway got my tickets today five months after buying them... Worse seats in the place...
Takes the piss. Sour taste in the mouth and the band can kiss my arse.
Winds me up they treat pre-sale to their fans as a way of getting rid of the crap tickets...
gggrrr
Vent over...

Just heard some "traveller" on Sky News saying...
"They aren't going to ruin our culture. We are travellers and this is how we want to live. They won't force us to live in houses."
What by building permanent settlements ? What by building houses ?
I kind of have sympathy with them and think they get treated fairly poorly by people in a racist way (although having personal experience of them while growing up they certainly don't help themselves) but its hard to understand their argument when they are contradict it so clearly...
What do people think ?

I read this today and it made me LOL
The Sun really is a quality paper....
Their income from wages, tax credits and child benefit is £32,000 — and they refuse to claim state handouts.
