  1. Personally think The Car would've been a much stronger album if it was majority like Sculptures.

Mirrorball and Sculptures are great. Hello You and Perfect Sense are good. The rest is totally forgettable, sadly. A couple of tracks are even, in my mind, absolutely mindbogglingly woeful.

And I'm saying this as a huge fan that's seen them live more times than I can remember!

both Foals and The 1975 should’ve headlined by now tbh

This might just be down to personal taste so could be nonsense but for me, I felt after Holy Fire, Foals were one more absolutely solid album (with 2-3 big singles) away from being able to step up.

I felt What Went Down completely missed (apart from Mountain at My Gates and perhaps the title track at a push), but I think they really fell off overall.

Their double album in 2019 was an awful idea from the beginning.

Still a great live band, one I've seen multiple times, and they always seem to get their setlist right to this day. Just think they slightly misfired when they had their chance to take it to the next level.

Overall, I'm a big fan, I saw them for £4 in a room that was 90% empty when I'd only heard Hummer, and seen them plenty since!

  3. This has probably been discussed so apologies if so - do people think there's a chance of The Walkmen being added to the Strokes day, once they've sold out their own shows at KOKO?

Seems to make so much sense given the timing but not sure if it's already been ruled out for any reason.

Harry Styles did brixton shows too this year

A one-off gig announced after he'd sold out multiple nights at Wembley, so fairly different tbf.

Overall, you can't blame the artist or promoters for booking the wrong venue. A lot of acts would prefer to do two or three nights in a smaller venue than one in a massive one, I think.

For me, if you haven't got a ticket, you turn up to try and get one off a tout then go home if you fail, or just don't bother. Doesn't seem hard to act like a normal human being. Really tragic what's happened.

There looked to be a lot of space n the standing area (compared to usual) but the seats were fairly full from what I could tell.

I managed to get tix as an NHS staff member late yesterday afternoon.

Out of interest, how did you get tickets as an NHS staff member? Wondering if I can get a family member to pull a favour for me...

I know they did the Old Trafford stadium shows in 2007 but I heard it was a pretty chaotic experience. Maybe that turned them off it for a little while until AM turbocharged their popularity.

I remember the Saturday being carnage down the front, fights everywhere. But that's the sort of crowd they had. They always used to say they'd hate to do arenas because they prefer the intimacy of small venues, but obviously they outgrew them. Probs a bit of that in their reluctance to do stadiums, rather than letting a few idiots ruin it. Those types stand towards the back at AM gigs these days!

  7. Got a couple this eve for the National tomorrow. Managed to get VIP ones for the same I was hoping to pay for ‘normal’ ones so why not.

They’re ‘VIP View’ so right in thinking it’ll give us access to that front left bit? And access to a couple of different bars/toilets? Anything else worth noting?

Wouldn’t have gone for them normally but at the price I thought why not.

Some less than face value on Twickets atm, but I don't think you'll get any ridiculous price drops this year as it hasn't happened for the other days even with the travel chaos factored in. I'd say about £50 would be a great deal if you see any at that price online.

    Cheers mate.

And for anyone that's been before, presuming VIP just isn't worth it?

absolutely wild that he wasn’t originally meant to be in this slot

Ballsy to play Seventeen halfway through the set though!

    What was his original slot?

  10. Weird one, Foals. One really good album away from being a headline band, but subsequently put out an average one and are now following it up by releasing two albums close together with a pretty weak lead single. They also haven't sold out their tour too quickly - they added a couple more dates after decent initial sales but there's plenty of tickets floating around. Something that wouldn't have been the case at all a couple of years ago.

Beginning of the end of them as a biggish band.

  11. Obviously he may have chosen the money of Reading and Leeds instead, but the worst thing is this is the year Glastonbury could have landed Kendrick Lamar. Who knows when he'll come back to Europe again. I have very little doubt he will continue to deliver musically but this would have been perfect timing, with almost everything he's released to date golden.

Not that it matters, but if he was offered it I think he'd have taken it in a heartbeat, with him seeing Jay-Z and Kanye do it before etc.

  12. He was absolutely unbelievable on Monday night. Hoping to go to Wembley Arena next week if I can pick up face value tickets (or less, of course).

Anyone know if resale tickets (e.g. on Twickets) were readily available for his London shows this week?

  13. Arctic Monkeys are nailed on. They'll tour the hell out of a new album next year, followed by a US tour/worldwide towards the end of the year/beginning of 2019 before rounding things off at Glastonbury.

As for the others, god knows. Don't think the Killers are 'there' anymore despite the secret set going down well. A poor next album will end them.

Kendrick is a very good shout but he still feels like a sub to me at the moment. Would love him there either way.

I was put off going to see TLSP in 2008 by the fact that it cost more to see them - a brand new band - than Arctic Monkeys, who were pretty well established. And they've done it again! I've seen AM a fair few times and have never spent more than £35ish. 50 quid really is quite ridiculous

Well this isn't true. I saw TLSP four times in 2008, once at a festival and three times on their own, including the gig in Liverpool with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. Tickets for the two 'normal' gigs were comfortably less than £30, I'd say around £25. I haven't paid less than £25 to see Arctic Monkeys since early 2006, and certainly not from 2008 onwards, since TLSP have been a thing.

  15. Hi guys,

New to this festival and as I can't make Glastonbury this year due to other commitments I'm considering this one. Do they do day tickets or just weekend tickets? I notice that a few of the acts I'm really bothered about (Radiohead, Shadow Puppets - don't judge me) are listed on their websites as playing the Friday, so we're thinking of doing a day.

    Many thanks.
