  1. Your emotions must get tempered by it a bit. On one hand you get untold adulation from festival lovers, on the other you get abuse from a few morons on twitter. Too much of either is obviously not good, but I'm sure they take it all in their stride.

I would have thought they listen to it all and make their own mind up on what works and what doesn't - most importantly after the event!
  2. Brothers Strawberry cider for day use, tastes like pop to me. Probably take some stronger cider for evenings, the Morrisons Vintage Cider in boxes is OK, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between that and pricier stuff.

I fancy taking some bitter but it's all rank out of cans I think, we spend a lot of time in the Real Ale tent, something to go with that.

One thing is that I'm going to leave some booze in the car and go back if needed, we always over-estimate, kill ourselves carrying it in then have to carry it home again. We were still drinking it in September last year as I remember.

  3. I normally wear DM leather dealer boots, they are pretty much waterproof and much easier to walk in than wellies. No laces or tongue for water to get in but if it's really muddy, i.e. ankle deep I'll resort to wellies.

I wore wellies which were a size too small in 2013 and my big toe nail fell off and didn't grow back again for about 9 months!

  4. On our first visit in 2009 a tremendous thunder storm kicked off just as we arrived on site and were about to put tent up. The people surrounding us who were already pitched offered us shelter in their tents and after that space to store our stuff whilst we got the tent up. I'd been to concerts before but never a festival and I could't believe how friendly people were, so hospitable. It's obviously continued throughout all our visits, I can't wait to get back.

  5. Slightly OT but didn't feel this warrants a new thread, we are staying in the east CV, do security often search you going through the pedestrian gate? If so how thoroughly? Just thinking do I need to be clever about hiding certain things.

I've been searched several times and it was half arsed at best. They looked in the top of my bag and that was about it. Perhaps others have had different experiences. Given that there was nothing stronger than cider in my stuff I wasn't bothered.

  6. I like a shower as much as the next person but having been in the kids field for most of the day and seeing the same people queuing who were there when we went in at 9am made me realise that it isn't worth it, Glastonbury time is so fleeting.

  7. We used to camp in Rivermead which always seemed underpopulated, loads of free space and easy(ish) to get to Peel/Other/Pyramid/Silver Hayes from there. Good for those not getting there until late Wed / Thursday.
We take kids now so we go in family camping. I agree, not good if you’ve been out until the wee hours as it’s bedlam by 7.30am and not quiet during the day either.
  8. Having done all of the gates since '09 I think C is the most difficult terrain wise. My wife arrived on Thursday through Gate B which seemed a bit easier but it queues badly on Wed I've been told. I've done Gate D from the back of the pink car park which felt like about 3 miles.

We're approach from the South West so none of them are particularly convenient but I'm still going for A37 / East car parks.

We've tried to make our kit lighter this year rather than stress where we are parked!

  9. On Sunday completed the superhuman effort of getting all of the tent pieces into their original bag. Spent the afternoon road testing different warm ciders in the sunshine.
Ordered wet weather gear, a significant offering to the weather gods.
And woke up yesterday with a stinking cold, result, get that well and truly out the way.
  10. How is everyone's progress?

I've upped my fitness a lot recently so hopefully won't ache so much at Glasto.

I'm within 5lb's of my Glastonbury target, hoping to lose them in the next 20 days...

I've started swimming 5 days per week for 40 mins but it doesn't seem lose a great deal of extra weight but I do feel a hell of a lot better after I've been.

  11. Has anyone seen any brothers in cans for sale? Getting a bit desperate now!

I ordered my Strawberry cider from them a couple of weeks ago and it arrived within 24hrs, they even phoned me when they'd sent it. The delivery cost is a bit of a pain but we bought 48 so it wasn't so bad given they're only charging £1 per can.

I prefer a cold cider from the bar but at x5 the cost it's getting bit unrealistic for more than a couple each day now.

  12. I lost nearly 3 stone for Glastonbury 2014, I've now put back on a stone of it - most of it since Feb...
Decided today that I want to lose stone before gates open in 2015, 2lb's per week, tough (for me) but achievable I hope if I really go for it.
My next Cornish Pasty will be when I'm stood at Glastonbury!
  13. Got ours just before 10am, just the birthday present I was hoping for this morning :-) Probably the most stressful 2hrs of my year, some of our party haven't got theirs yet. Feel really sorry for those who are going to miss out.
