  1. Haha - I was in just the same boat as everyone else during The Mad Scramble. It was my first time in 6 attempts that I have failed to grab a ticket on T-Day ; but naturally I reckon the lovely weather and great vibes of last year must have caused people to go home and tell all their mates how *brilliant* Glastonbury is at its best - I was ready for a tough T-Day but confident that everything would be alright.

It'll all come good in the re-sale ; see you at Brother's Bar!

  2. I have written a prog that monitors the page every 2 seconds and checks for changes - it automatically sends me an SMS if it spots a change ;-)

So I should get to know within a few seconds if that page changes...yes, I make my living a a programmer and I am abusing it to try to get to Glastonbury!

  3. My girlfriend waasn't really up for Glasto this year & I was supposed to be going with "friends", but they met up with some people they knew who had backstage access & I didn't even see them till the England game on the Sunday. To be honest; I initially felt isolated, deflated & more than a little angry, but I got on the phone & met up with some people I only knew through internet message boards. We had an absolute blast.

On the Saturday night, my internet mate felt a little crook & had to turn in, but I was still in the mood to party, so I helped him back to his tent, made sure he was ok & headed off to Shangri La on my own. I had a brilliant night; I met some lovely people & eventually staggered back to my tent at 6-00 am with a cup of tea, a bacon sandwich & a huge smile on my face.

Glastonbury certainly has a way of telling you who your real friends are.

Unfortunately, despite spending almost 5 hours trying, we didn't manage to bag any tickets last Sunday, but we live in hope for the re-sale.

I guess the moral of this story is that Glastonbury is a truly magical place & it doesn't matter if you're alone, because there's 179,999 potential friends all around you. Crikey, I hope we get tickets in the resale

  4. Hmmm let me see:

    Roxy Music - Clarence's Club, Halifax. 1972

Led Zeppelin - St George's Hall, Bradford 1974

David Bowie - St George's Hall, Bradford 1973. Was the Ziggy Stardust tour, just before he made the big time. The ticket stub is still round at my folks house somewhere, it says "David Bowie - Admit 1 - 60p"

    Top that little lot!:P:lol:

  5. Eh?

Am I missing out on something here?

Are these packs sent out automatically to all over 18 festival goers?

Did you have to apply for them?

Am I the hapless victim of another efestie wind up?

  6. Yeah. I spoke to my mate today. He "paid" for his ticket last October & was wondering why he hadn't heard anything.

He had a clear out of his inbox & discovered that there was an email from See (sent in October) saying there was a "problem" with his payment. Muppet!

Is there anybody from Leeds / Manchester areas that needs a lift? See my thread in Lift Share & drop me a PM.

  7. I apologise if this band have been discussed before on another thread, but I can't find ANY reference to them here or on the official Glasto website.

They're actually the phenomenally talented Sweedish sisters Klara & Johanna Soderberg. I notice from their My Space page that they're actually playing "The Greenpeace Stage" at Glastonbury.

Have a listen to them, I like them very much.

Confirmation that they ARE actually playing would be very welcome; As would the location of "The Greenpeace Stage" :P

  8. just been speaking to a stevie wonder fan who was telling me about the most recent gigs he has seen. He was saying that he rushes through the "hits" (and even did a hits medley - I loathe medleys) and plays lengthy extended jams on some tracks.

I'll level with you: I'm worried it might not live up to expectations

  9. What's wrong with your other half?

If you're going to vent your midlife crisis, what better place to do it than Glastonbury? I know, I did.

Go for it. You'll have a great time.

  10. Quote from dr_billy on "most disappointing performance at glasto" thread

    Courting is fine with me!

Did some good stuff Tindersticks, and good "courting" stuff especially.

Edit: Got me thinking, they did work for me once (oh happy memories), amazed we haven't had a "knicker dropping music" thread yet.

    Well, we have now Doc.

This one worked once for me back in the day..Well I was only 17 :P

In fact it still gets trotted out on the odd occasion (much to the amusement of my OH :P)

  11. Thanks for posting that Red Day. it makes a pleasant change from the usual speculation on "who's playing / who isn't playing"!

No prizes for guessing my favourite is Neon Park aka Martin Muller RIP :P - See my avatar.
