  1. Hadn't heard of The Young 'Uns but we were in the Acoustic Tent on Friday chilling out (mostly needed a sit down!) but they came on and sang this which was "inspired by the incredible story of Matthew Ogston, who founded the Naz and Matt Foundation to tackle religious and cultural homophobia following the tragic death of his fiancé. In April 2015 he embarked upon The Journey to Find Acceptance and walked one hundred and thirty miles from London to Birmingham."

His fiancé took his own life due to his unwillingness to accept his own sexuality, absolutely heart breaking. My wife and I had tears steaming down our faces, it was exceptionally cathartic and one of the most real and beautiful moments of our festival. Great to see such a touching and beautifully performed tribute to an ordinary guy.

Have  been looking at this tent for last few days now, what are peoples thoughts? Quite a bargain at £72,25 with code. Any recommendations of anything different if not?

It's not bad, several reviews of the eurohike 3 man cairn tent going back a few years were not glowing regarding ill fitting inner and outer fly sheets (i.e. Outside not big enough to cover!) not so sure about eurohike quality.

have you thought about a 2 room tent for 3, middle ground will give you much more space for gear and two smaller sleeping areas will at least be comfier for one of your party, theoretically one could sleepin the middle so you all have your own space if there's no 'couple'

Try this one from decathlon, for an extra £8.50 each between the three of you it might be a nice option

Not 100% sure if this is the right thread but can anyone recommend either of these tents?

Both are single skin which if you touch it in the morning all the condensation will absolutely soak you. Don't touch the walls and I guess it's ok. Go for whichever has the highest HH reading

edit both have a HH of 1500 but I would recommend 3000 for glasto

I like the look of these. £30 is about my budget as i'll need to get one for the mrs as well.

Was looking at these for the blow up option. Anyone used the 10cm versions of these?

You may be best trying the Vango instead as a reputable brand Decathlon

    should be fine

Need to get a new bed for this year. We are getting the coach so looking for something that packs down small and is also lightweight. Any recommendations?

Got ourselves a couple of These they weigh 700g and are absolutely brilliant. Service was Amazon international was top notch they arrived in about two weeks from the USA and I paid about £50 each for them (wait for a good offer). Other than that if you're using public transport wait until you are at the festival and buy mattress there, reserve at cosy camper and job done

  6. Not 180k people pissing in a valley which runs into the water supply and rivers, festival pays thousands of pounds (out of the money that's supposed to go to charity) every year in fines and it really does threaten the festivals existence as the event could be denied its license to run

  7. I volunteer for a Somerset school, for the past 5 years they've had a control gate to man but this year they have changed it and we are to patrol and advise the punters to make the right choices and protect the land so glasto are pretty seriously putting investment into it, I've two 9 hour shifts and a 6 hour shift where it is my only job, don't pee on the land people or you will run into me and I shall not be happy :aikido:

  8. Damien rice is still my fav set.

Last Year absolutely adored Foy Vance's set in Avalon, couple of hundred people singing along and a brill rendition of Purple Rain was a nice touch. Went to see him 6months later in Belfast and he had a couple of thousand people in his hand but it didn't feel as special as a lazy and intimate Sunday at glasto!

Both great tents! I'm really tempted to go for the larger one...but I also take the train... so I know I'd be better off with a lighter tent... this is why I haven't bought one yet. Waiting for my magic giant cheap super light tent to come on the market

I know! I'm flying from Belfast so I had very few options (although my mum lives near the site so at least I can post stuff to her first if needs be) and getting everything to site is such a faff if you aren't driving yourself.

So true . Exactly what I'm looking good for but about 3x what I was hoping to pay. I'll keep searching but thanks!

For what you're looking for I would suggest one of these Quencha tents at £70 and 6.5kg I don't think there's many negatives! Oh can't stand up in that one try This one instead it's 9.5kg but that's your trade off as it's only £80 and very very roomy!

Anyone got one of these?  https://www.amazon.co.uk/Highlander-SM026-BL-Outdoor-Seat-Blue-x/dp/B002WUJC5U/ref=sr_1_12_m?m=A2QODR4IZFO7VH&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1491567150&sr=1-12

Worthwhile or waste of time? I find camping chairs less comfy than sitting on the ground but I'm getting on a bit and could do with something I can lean back onto sometimes.  Also this seems to be far less obnoxious to carry through a crowd, though it'd primarily be for at the tents.

Had the exact one at last years festival but it gave up on me on Sunday, so for 4 days use it was the best thing on earth, on the 5th pretty useless as the stitching went and the supporting poles came out. So take of that what you will, it's so lightweight which was its biggest selling point unlike the wooden one posted above which is nearly 3 x as heavy. Still looking for other options personally!

Interested in which tent is the 3 man 5lb standing room? I'm in the market for just that if you could point me in the right direction.

It's the Vango Galaxy 300, 5.6kg, "cosy" sleeping for two ( big enough to put 2 sleep mats) and tall enough in the porch for 6'+ to stand comfortably. Nifty little tent. I paid £220 from blacks with a discount code. Basically owing to the old adage of the camping triage where you can have two of the three options

    Price , Comfort, Weight

But you cant have all 3 ^_^

    Vango galaxy clicky

  13. I have a 3 man tent for the two of us, weights 5kg and has a porch you can stand up in so have played tent lottery pretty well. Weight is the key factor for me, last year walked the old family tent in with its steel poles, whilst a great trip down memory lane they aren't great to fit on your back (must of been at least 15kg) and i was fit for writing my will and packing it all in before I started last year. I've decided to go back to basics and be clever with weight, it's not worth bringing everything and the kitchen sink, modern camping technology is where it's at B)

  14. one thing that pissed me off this year was the constant talking over sets. Went to see Art in Acoustic tent and couldn't bloody hear a thing because of everyone having bleeding stupid conversations, there's a living legend in front of them and they can't shut up for 45mins ... Had to leave as the atmosphere was completely ruined

  15. This is awesome, coincidentally the site is as big as my walk to and from work everyday so without actually realising it I've been doing the perfect prep work in my walking boots the past 6 months B) Of course I don't usually have 160,000 people 100s of stages and loos to navigate everyday but totes prepared

You could sweet talk other people to carrying some extra hooch in for you so you need less cash?   :D

Then if you find anywhere that takes a card it's a bonus.

In general, despite being a manager of an offie, we don't drink so I'm not expecting to spend too much, bringing a wee stove to make tea in the morns and just buying maybe one/two cold pints a day. I guess like most people we just struggle to get our hand on real money every month, darn below inflation pay rises, darn torys!
