The original Monsters of Rock festival started in the early eighties, and featured many of the bands that would be at the top of any self-respecting metal fan's list even now.
The name was last revived in 2006 with acts including Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, and Journey and returned to the home of British rock Donington Park motor racing circuit at Castle Donington, Leicestershire.
