The original Monsters of Rock festival started in the early eighties, and featured many of the bands that would be at the top of any self-respecting metal fan's list even now. The name is being revived to provide a platform for the same music - and some of the same bands - for today's audience.

It's to be headlined by classic rockers Deep Purple, along with Alice Cooper as special guest, with Journey, Thunder, Queensrÿche & Ted Nugent also confirmed. There's one further act to be added.
