Great Midland Ukulele Festival 2016


The 4th annual Great Midland Ukulele Festival takes place this year at Warwick Racecourse on Saturday 9th July 2016.

Line-up

Peter Moss, Chonkinfeckle, Gabriela, A D Cooke, and 6-5 Special Skiffle Band. Plus a host of groups and soloists - Variety show Saturday night, plus more to be announced.

The day will be filled with ukulele fun, with guest artistes, sets from various uke groups / clubs, workshops and open mics. We have a mixture of headliners, ukulele groups and talented soloists' Bring your ukes, wear colourful clothes, leis and hats. There will be a mass busk of songs at various times throughout the day. A songbook will be available from the Festival Stall. Ukulele groups from local schools will be given a chance to show their talents and perform on stage with PA in front of the crowd.

Plus cheerleaders, marching band, childrens attractions, and magician.

Saturday 11am- til 11pm tickets on the gate are £4
Friday from 7.30pm there's a pre-fest jam which is FREE

Camping

Motorhomes and caravans can park up securely Friday and Saturday night within the the festival grounds. Within the compound there is a water point and nearby toilets (no showers) open all day and night. Warwick Racecourse also accommodates a Caravan Club site with 30 standings (100 metres away) with electric hook-ups and toilet block. If you are a member then you have the option to stay there.

In addition there are various fast food mobile catering units outside, or an indoor restaurant meal with drink is available at the Chandler bar and restaurant, or there's an opportunity to enjoy the grassed picnic area.

There is a public car park adjacent at only £1 Council charge for all day ! If you want to park free then a little futher away (200 metres) is a large free car park near to the racecourse stables.

There will be a play area for children with the usual childrens attractions, bouncy castle, clown, magician, face painting, space hoppers etc. Jimmy James, magical entertainer and balloon artist, is putting on a one hour magic show for the kids in the Paddock suite on Saturday afternoon, and there will be balloon artistry fun all day.

There will be stalls with a range of ukes and accessories, a fabulous raffle for high quality ukes, tombola, CDs, memorabilia etc. There are two stages, one inside the marquee and one large gazebo stage outside with pro PA and sound crews. In case of rain, there is plenty of room inside marquee and bars.

Festival guide booklets will be available, the festival crew will wear distinctive logo'd T-shirts and hi-vis 'Crew' jackets and will be on hand to help with any queries.

The supported charity is Warwickshire Air Ambulance who will have a stall and collect on the day. It is hoped that they will be able to bring along one of their new rescue vehicles (unless on call).

It is only a few minutes walk to Historic Warwick's town centre with it's famous castle and many tourist attractions. Warwick train station is about half a mile away.
