Llantilio Crossenny 2009

Now in its 47th year, this music and opera festival is held in and around St Teilo's Church which dates from the 13th century, and is set in a beautiful rural location.

The festival features a full programme of classical, operatic and jazz performances from leading professionals. Other regular features include an orchestral concert, jazz and choral performances, and workshops.

The Festival will open on Saturday 9th May with two performances of Rossini's 'Cinderella' by children from Cross Ash school. There will be a Jazz Evening on Sunday 10th in the gardens of Treadam Farm with Trudy Kerr. On Friday 15th there's a tribute to 'Mansel Thomas' in words, folk songs, chamber works and slides by Terence Gilmore James and the Pavao Quartet in St. Teilo's Church.

The opera this year will be La Cenerentola by Rossini which will be performed by London Opera Productions in the Great Barn at the Hog's Head. On Sunday 17th May there will be a trumpet workshop and then an Orchestral Concert featuring Crispian Steele-Perkins and the Festival Orchestra. The festival will close on that evening with a choral Evensong sung by the Restoration Singers.

Llantilio Crossenny lies between Abergavenny, the 'Gateway to Wales', and Monmouth.
