Llantilio Crossenny 2007


Now in its 45th year, this music and opera festival is held in St Teilo's Church which dates from the 13th century, and is set in a beautiful rural location.

With a full programme of classical, operatic and jazz performances from leading professionals, details of this year's festival have now been announced:
Wenesday, 16th May: An Orchestral Concert with Conductor, Robyn Sevastos and violin soloist, Rolf Wilson, featurng works by Rossini, Britten, Dvorak and Mozart.
Thursday, 17th May: Jazz in the Garden at Treadam Farm, Near Llantilio Crossenny with Trudy Kerr and her Trio: Tom Cawley on piano, Geoff Gascoyne on bass, Steve Brown on drums.
Friday, 18th May: Starting at 8pm - a performance by Swansea City Opera of Rossini's 'Barber of Seville'.
Saturday, 19th May: Starting at 7pm - a performance by Swansea City Opera of Rossini's 'Barber of Seville' in the gardens around the church for a picnic.
Sunday, 20th May: A concert given by the Malcolm Sargent Choir followed by Evensong which will be a memorial service for Charles Farncombe CBE, the festival's late Musical Director, who died on 30th June last year, with The Restoration Singers and The Reverend David Osborn.

Also taking place, on both Saturday and Sunday, at 11am and 2pm, there are two fully staged reduced workshop performances of Engelbert Humperdinck's opera, 'Hansel & Gretel' in costume with scenery, with children from local schools performing alongside professional soloists (who have sung with national and international opera companies) taking the main roles and accompanied by a small professional orchestra.

Llantilio Crossenny lies between Abergavenny, the 'Gateway to Wales', and Monmouth.
