After attending every Glastonbury from 1994 onwards (2 sun 2 mud), I missed last year for reasons beyond my control, so I was frothing at the mouth for this one. And boy oh boy did it exceed those mighty expectations. I wasn't really bothered that the major bands have all gone where the money is. After all, Reading has to make a profit sometimes. And less music-only fans really contributed to a more mellow vibe than I had ever experienced.

The lock-ups took most of the fear out of the festival. My decision not to attempt camping in the Green Fields really paid off - not trampled once and the Audio-only (from my tent) lullaby of The Blair Witch Project with Full Audience Participation was a true utterly-unanticipated highlight. I even saw a few bands - Sunday was a night of clashes but I can live with missing The Beta Band and Kelis for the sake of a superb Yo Lo Tengo set followed by the awe of a cinammon-and-caramel-voiced Suzanne Vega called back for 3 encores and still leaving a full field wanting more. And that's not mentioning the mega-cool people I met and hung out with in Tipis and Healing Fields. Blissful. I have never had a Glastonbury I didn't enjoy (no matter what the traumas), but this is currently the best. And I've got as much of my life (as long as Eavis and daughter care to keeping running it) to have an even better one.

Thanks guys
