Glastonbury Festival 1999

By eFestivals Newsroom | Published:

Pyramid Stage, Friday 25th June

I came to Glastonbury looking forward to seeing one of the best bands the world has ever seen- and I was not disapointed.

REM gave a stunning performance under a spectacular light show. They gave, without doubt, one of the best live performances I have ever seen. Michael Stipe's voice is quite outstanding, and the passion in which he sang his songs was stunning. All the crowd favourites were played, with the beautiful 'Everybody Hurts' really standing above the rest. They mixed material from both their old and present albums and classic songs like' Losing My Religion', and 'Man on the Moon' were outstanding. The bands sales have been recently declining, but I would encourage anyone, after seeing REM live, to buy some of their records.
