Glastonbury Festival 1999

By eFestivals Newsroom | Published:

So I dragged my sorry arse all the way from Los Angeles to attend Glastonbury for the first time in 5 years. I was amazed to see how it's grown and now that I'm a more mature person, I could appreciate it in it's entirety rather than just see how many drugs I can put down my neck without killing myself.

Aside from my boyfriend getting his suitcase nicked within the first hour we were there, and the poo-poo mountains coming out of the toilets, it was the best experience I've had in years. I caught several bands here and there, but never really knew who they were, so I can't give any performance reviews. I was too busy wandering around aimlessly, trying to take everything in. I used to have my bearings after a day there, but now it's so huge, I never knew where I was. Thank god my friends had some sense of direction.

Sadly, it was a short trip (flew in Fri, flew out Mon) and I was completely depressed to have to fly into Los Angeles, the complete opposite of Glastonbury. It reminds me of what a bunch of shallow losers we are over here and what a bunch of clever, witty and absolutely hilarious bunch you are over there.

Thanks for a great time and hope to see you next year (if I've recovered by then)!
