Glastonbury Festival 1999

By eFestivals Newsroom | Published:

We're from The Netherlands and we've been to Glasters '99 this last week (we arrived on wednesday) and it was absolutely fabulous !!!

I myself was a Glastersvirgin, but my hubby Stefan has been 3 times now and was completely overwhelmed by the colours, good smiles and happy people that did come with the wonderful sunshine this year .. I was overwhelmed by almost everything, it really was amazing...

I didn't see much bands but I have really enjoyed: Seize the day (in the Greenpeace-tent on thursday), Weapons of sound, Cast, Beautiful South, Billy Bragg, REM, Afro-Celt sound system and a few others). We spent a lot of time on the Greenfields undergowing wonderful massages and participating in a workshop Rebirthing for women in the Moonlodge (thanx again Christina) and drinking lots of tea in the Budha-cafe. Also the theaterfields were fab, we especially thought Jonathan Kay, Attila the Stockbroker and John Otway were mindthrilling and we had a really good time with Charmeleon ("where were we.... Oh yes, Glastonbury..") Loved it all !!!

And I must say I was glad to have joined in with the one-minute silence for Jean Eavis at the Pyramid stage it was very moving and emotional and it's a moment I'll remember certainly (and by that remember Jean Eavis...)

All in all it was a really good festival for us, all the things I dreaded before coming didn't happen (rain/mud, thefts, no sleep, dirty toilets) and everybody was really full of love, peace and happiness (and hashish....) Long live Glasters !!! Hope to be back some time...

love,

(P.S. because of the big party going on at our camping we did leave very very early on mondaymorning and hadn't had the chance to say goodbye to our friendly Irish neigbours, so: see ya' Lisa and Brian, it was really nice meeting you!!!)
