Gillingham Festival 2008


The dates for 2008 are confirmed as Saturday 5th July to Sunday 20th July 2008. The first weekend will involve the popular sporting activities such as the 10km run, the 3km Fun Run and football tournaments for the younger age groups.

This is a co-ordinated arts and community event centred around a marquee adjacent to Gillingham's High Street and culminating in a Community weekend.

Headline acts already booked for 2008 include: Ben Waters and his big band, Elkie Brooks and her band; Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band; The Great Pretender and HRH band (Queen tribute band); The Rat Pack (tribute to Frank Sinatra),The Rolling Clones (Rolling Stones tribute), Cornwall's Miracle Theatre Company present 'Jason', and Whole Lotta Led (Led Zeppelin tribute).

The festival programme will also include tribute bands, blues, folk and classical performances, with a number of free performances.

Over the two-week period there's a varied programme of events including circus workshops, a poetry evening, photographic displays, antique valuations, historical walks, an archaeological finds roadshow, and children’s activities. An evening with Michael Portillo has also been confirmed.
