FolkStation 2011

The fourth Folkstation Festival takes place from Friday 8th until Sunday 10th July 2011. Located at the Havenstreet Steam Railway, on the Isle Of Wight. The festival has been built up from a 'fringe' group of folk musicians who gathered together to play at railway events over 35-year history of the railway.

Line-up

Acts confirmed for 2011 are Wheeler Street, Vickie Swann & Jonny Dyer, Isambarde, Patti Smith & Ned Clamp, The Monster Ceilidh Band, Capella, Holly Kirby, The Scores, Beachcomber, Creeky Folk, Caulkheads, Dollymops, and Lucid. The festival will offer a selection of local Isle of Wight acts and headline acts from the UK. There will be a mixture of stage events, concerts, a ceilidh, workshops and traditional dancers.

Tickets

Early-bird tickets are no longer available. An adult weekend all inclusive ticket is available at the price of £60, with tickets for children aged 5-14 years priced at £10. Children aged under 5 can attend for free. To book tickets, click here.

Camping

There is full weekend camping adjacent to the station (fortunately the trains don't run after tea-time so camping is in a peaceful, rural location).

Travel

Car ferry
Inclusive discounted ferry tickets can be booked through the festival office. Alternatively bookings can be made with either Wightlink or Red Funnel ferries.

Passenger ferries
Passenger ferries run from Southsea (Hovertravel), Portsmouth Harbour (Wightlink Catamarans), and Southampton docks (Red Funnel's Red-Jets). Foot passengers can also travel on any of the car ferries. Bus route 9 from Newport takes festival goers to Wootton Station where they can catch the steam train to Havenstreet.

Train
Through tickets to Havenstreet can be purchased anywhere on the UK rail network via Portsmouth Harbour station and the passenger ferries to Ryde. The steam railway links to the island train system; just catch the train from Ryde (from the pier head or the Esplanade) and change at Smallbrook Junction to travel by steam straight into the festival site at Havenstreet.

Plane
The festival site also has two airfields.
