Folk on the Pier 2013


Folk on the Pier takes place around The Pavilion Theatre, The Pier, Cromer, in Norfolk and other for both organised and impromptu fringe events over three days from Friday 10th until Sunday 12th May 2013.

This festival champions the acoustic-folk, and folkrock genres at its annual gathering.

Line-up

The 15th Anniversary will feature a very special 'Sunday with Fairport Convention' to include performances by the Dylan Project, Ric Sanders Trio, Chris Leslie, Simon Nicol and of course the full band itself. Ashley Hutchings will be producing a special Albion Band 'Review' for the Saturday night! Show of Hands will take the Friday night! Billy Mitchell and Alan Reid with Rob' Van Sandt are also confirmed.

Friday: Show of Hands, Colvin Quarmby, Miranda Sykes & Rex Preston, Martin Simpson, Seize the Day, Mawkin.

Saturday: Joe Broughton's Conservatoire Folk Orchestra, Sonerien Du (Brittany), Alan Reid & Rob van Sante, Billy Mitchell Band, Rainbow Chasers, Fraser Nimmo.

Sunday: Fairport Convention, Albion Xmas Show (yes honestly!), 'Beyond Convention' featuring Dylan Project + Ric Sanders Trio+ Chris Leslie Solo.

Folk on the Pier Fringe festival concerts: in Cromer's Parish Church and the Hotel de Paris with Maire Chathasaigh & Chris Newman, and Michael Chapman.

Plus open mic performances, storytelling and sessions. The latter includes a return of the Richard Davies Memorial Session in honour of the late Cromer Lifeboat coxswain, featuring East Anglian acoustic musicians and step dancing, and Elvis Fontenot and the Sugar Bees.

On Sunday Sonerien Du will give a talk and answer questions about life on the road, and there will also be an opportunity to hear about the exploits of seafarer John Paul Jones from Alan Reid & Rob van Sante in the appropriate setting of the Lifeboat House.

Tickets

Tickets have sold out. The early bird offer has ended. Weekend season tickets (subject to availability) were priced at £85.

Over the last couple of years the festival has expanded to take in many venues in Cromer itself for both organised and impromptu fringe events. This year will see a further expansion with second fully seated cencert style venue and a dance-house.
