The 16th Folk on the Pier takes place around The Pavilion Theatre, The Pier, Cromer, in Norfolk and other for both organised and impromptu fringe events over three days from Friday 6th until Sunday 8th May 2016.

This festival champions the acoustic-folk, and folkrock genres at its annual gathering. Ashley Hutchings is the festival's Patron, and will make two appearances this year.

Line-up

Friday:
Afternoon concert: Phillip Henry & Hannah Martin, The Jigantics, Peter Knights Gigspanner.
Evening concert: Richard, Fred Guichen, Sylvain Barou & Erwan Moal (Brittany), Nancy Kerr & the Sweet Visitor Band

Saturday
Afternoon concert: Nick Barracloughs Brokedown Palace, Blair Dunlop Trio, Urban Folk Quartet
Evening concert: John Ward Trio, The Froe (featuring Ruth Angell, Charlie Heys, Helen Lancaster & Emma Cap) , The Demon Barbers XL

Sunday
Afternoon Concert: Steve Tilston, Calan (Wales), Spikedrivers
Evening Concert: The Broadside Boys, Greg Russell & Ciaran Algar, Fairport Convention.

Expect also open mic performances, storytelling and sessions.

The early bird offer has ended. A weekend pass (all six concerts) is priced at £95. Sunday night has sold out.

Over the last couple of years the festival has expanded to take in many venues in Cromer itself for both organised and impromptu fringe events. This year will see a further expansion with second fully seated concert style venue and a dance-house.

The fringe

The event also has quite an active fringe programme in local venues.The Fringe offers a mix of styles from traditional folk to the pure experimental. As with any folk festival fringe, open mic and sessions form the backbone of the programming but set performances include Cajun Rock to Mediaeval based comedy and music.
