The Carnival Parade will take place between 10am and 1pm and is expected to be
full of traditionally dressed dancers and musicians representing each of the different Latin American countries. The parade will make its way through the streets of south London from London Bridge passing through Elephant and Castle and Camberwell to Burgess Park for an afternoon of salsa and South American culture.
Performers include Lisandro Mesa, a well-known Colombian musician, Henry Fiol ('the man with the trick') with his Salsa band, Bombelé - a traditional folkloric group from the Pacific coast of Colombia, Angelica with Chango, Catri and her music of the Andes - a group of Bolivian musicians, and Murgas - Forró y Papayeras who play surrounded by the public, encouraging them to dance.
There will also be the Samba and Capoeira show of Brazilian dance by the London School of Samba, a Salsa Dance Competition organised by Jose Salsa School Productions Ltd in association with Pineapple Studio, the Young Peoples Orchestra from the Latin American School and salsa dance classes with the Sexteto Café.
There will be a wide range of South American food and crafts to explore and sample. This festival which seems to be increasing in popularity on an annual basis. Last year there was a turnout of over 80,000 people.
