This traditional celebration of the acclaimed Scottish poet is now in its seventh year, and takes place from Saturday 17th to Sunday 25th May 2008.
There will be a wide range range of entertainment showcasing contemporary and traditional Scottish culture, and taking place both in town centres and in rural locations; from poetry, and traditional and classical music, to radical new theatre, cabaret, and pop music, plus dance and film.
As well as such regulars as the Mauchline Holy Fair, other events such as Rock At The Racecourse are expected. The programme has not yet been fully announced but is likely to include nationally acclaimed artists as well as local performers.
The first act confirmed are Status Quo playing 'Burns Rock at the Racecourse' on Saturday 24rd May at the Ayr Racecourse. For tickets, priced at £27.50 to this event click here. Other acts confirmed to play include Status Quo, From The Jam, Eddie Reader, Amy Macdonald, Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Fred Macaulay, Karen Matheson, Alison McNeill, Emily Smith, Gaberlunzie, Esther O'Connor, Kin, and Old Blind Dogs.
There's a Festival Club at the Bon Vivant Spiegletent in Wellington Square from Thursday through to Sunday, which is known to feature a diverse line-up of artists. Previous artists have included King Creosote with Pictish Trail and Jim Malcolm & Kris Drever; plus a free lunchtime jazz show.
There will be also be a continental food market, street theatre, acoustic sets at Dean Castle Courtyard, helicopter/horse drawn rides, a funfair on Low Green, drama from various theatre companies and classical music performances in old country houses.
