Brightlingsea Free MusicFest 2011


The eleventh free, live, outdoor music festival in East Anglia happens from Friday 5th until Sunday 7th August 2011 and features performances from both nationally and locally known artists in the natural amphitheatre of Hurst Green.

Line-up

Friday - Classical Evening: Craig Ogden (guitar) and Lynette Alcantara (mezzo soprano) will provide an evening of classical music, and on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. As usual the pubs will be hosting local bands on Friday evening with The Intermission Blues Band at The Yachstman, Ladybird and the Larks at The Brewers' Arms, Emu at The Rosebud, Bouncing Off Concrete at The Swan and Contraband at The Oyster Bar.
Saturday - Roots & Blues day We Are Embassy, Animal Noise, Slopes, 633, The Skagills, The Tracey Hunter Band, Hokie Join, The B Goodes, and Marner Brown.
Sunday - Jazz & World day Bright Voices, Unmistakably Real, Hugh Rainey's Jazz Band, Aaron Hughes, Jamie Williams and the Roots Collective, RMC, Sweeting Swing Band.

There will be stalls selling food and alcohol dotted around the edge of the Green as well as beer and wine tents staffed by the organisers who will use the money raised to start the funding for the 2012 Festival.

Free parking

There is NO parking on Hurst Green, so please leave cars at the free park located off Lower Park Road and walk up to Hurst Green (10 min's) – there will be an overspill car park a short walk away if necessary. It's recommended that festival goers don't make their journey to the festival don't come through Colchester, as it can get very congested. 2010 saw record crowds of 2,000 plus for the Sunday Jazz event, and a record audience, of well over 500, for the Classical evening.

Individuals are invited to show their support by purchasing colourful wristbands at and Festival T shirts. Both these items go on sale at local outlets.

Accommodation

This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
