PRESS RELEASE

Orbital, Bloc Party and AURORA to headline Leopallooza

Top names take the headline slots as Leopallooza announces its stellar 2023 lineup.

Electronic heavyweights Orbital will bring their iconic dance sounds on Friday night, while indie legends Bloc Party’s trademark stomping floor fillers will get the field on its feet for the Saturday night party.

And Norwegian electro-pop star AURORA will set the scene for a dreamy Sunday night, perfect for wrapping up a weekend of music, comedy, theatre and family fun at Cornwall’s favourite house party in a field.

Also on bill are energetic indie popsters The Mystery Jets, explosive lyricist Billy Nomates and 14-piece jazz/heavy bass Dutty Moonshine Big Band.

“We’re so excited to share our headliners and first batch of artists to be announced for Leopallooza,” said festival director Lee Ellis.

“Every year the festival seems to take another step up, and this is no exception. To see names like Orbital, Bloc Party and AURORA on our bill has got us all pretty eager for summer to arrive."

Taking over the Treeline dance stage for a Hong Kong Ping Pong takeover special on Sunday night is King of the Beats, the brainchild of multi-award winning DJ/producer Krafty Kuts, underground icons The Freestylers and breakbeat co-creators Plump DJs.

For littler festival fans, iconic UK animation studio Aardman (Wallace & Gromit, Shaun The Sheep, Chicken Run), will be running workshops to get involved with. And the enchanting Rogue Theatre will once again curate their own Rogue Wood in among the woodland, where you’ll find spellbinding family activities including theatre, immersive storytelling and workshops.

Known for its independent, grassroots feel, passionate eco credentials and roguish party spirit, Leopallooza happens each year at magical north Cornwall venue, The Wyldes

Starting as a party in a field on organiser Lee Ellis’ family farm 17 years ago, it’s evolved into a sprawling vision of arts, comedy, theatre and music, all taking place on its own handbuilt permanent site.

The first UK festival to ban single use plastics, including straws, cups and bottles on their bars, a zero landfill policy and bespoke stages built from reclaimed, locally-sourced materials, the Leo team is as passionate about planet-friendly partying as they are about their top lineup. They were recently awarded A Greener Festival accreditation - the industry gold standard - in recognition of their efforts.

As well as the crowd-drawing main stage acts of The Clearing, there’s electronic haven The Treeline and comedy area The Funny Side. Not forgetting the tiniest club there ever was, Dinkies. There are always extra surprises for those who explore well enough too.

With camping options ranging from general tent camping to beautiful bell tents, electric hook ups, family areas and their ever-popular Trailer Flash campervan area, there’s something for everyone, whether you’re a festival newbie, old hand or fancy-toilets-only kind of camper.
