The 5-day surf and music Boardmasters festival has announced its sustainability and environmental plans for the next 3 years. This year's edition takes place from Wednesday 8th to Sunday 12th August 2018 at a cliff-top location overlooking Watergate Bay, and Fistral BeachNewquay, Cornwall.

The new Boardmasters Foundation donated £20,000 to its charity partner Surfers Against Sewage, as well as working directly on two beach cleans in April. 200 kilos of marine litter were collected by hundreds of volunteers over the weekend.

Over the next three years, the festival will reduce usage of disposable plastics, including the implementation of a re-useable cup scheme, and a review of all materials used on site.

This year's festival line-up features headliners Catfish & The Bottlemen, The Chemical Brothers (live), and George Ezra, plus many more acts including Craig David presents TS5, Annie Mac, Fat Freddy's Drop, Kano, Rag n Bone Man, Years & Years, Everything Everything, Friendly Fires, Raye, The Horrors, Declan McKenna, The Amazons, Bicep (DJ set), Tom Walker, and more. For all of the details so far please see the line-up page.

The festival also features a surfing competition, which will be included as part of the World Surf League qualifying series.
