Lakefest launch search for unsigned talent

and add Molotov Jukebox, Big Country, Secret Affair, Nahko & Medicine for the People, & more

Unsigned acts are invited to enter ‘Open Lakefest Livewire’ which will have national and local unsigned acts competing against one another to win the chance of opening Lakefest 2016 at Eastnor Castle in August. The finalists, who will be chosen by the organisers, and eventual winner will be chosen by the public.

Lee Martin, Lakefest Director, said, "We’re passionate about showcasing musical talent. We know that there are so many incredible individuals and bands out there that deserve recognition and we want to give them a platform. The winner of the ‘Open Lakefest Livewire’ will open Lakefest 2016 at Eastnor Castle this August. It’s free to enter and we invite all unsigned acts to apply – whatever the genre and whether you’re a one-man-band or a group."

Those who would like to enter will have to meet the following criteria:

Only one entry per act/band.
Must be an unsigned act.
You can be recommended, or apply themselves.
A live recording of the act performing must be submitted.
Please note: the video has to be of a live sound recording, not a studio recording.

Deadline for submissions is Monday 16th May 2016.
Finalists will be announced on Wednesday 1st June 2016.
Winner to 'Open Lakefest' will be announced on Monday 20th June 2016.

When the finalists have been narrowed down by the organisers, the videos will be put on a dedicated YouTube channel, where the public will cast their votes on who should win. Likes on each video will be counted as votes. The act with the most votes will be named as the winners.

Thee winners will join a line-up that includes the recently added Big Country, Molotov Jukebox, Secret Affair, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Duke Special, The Roving Crows, The Cracked, Erica, Foreign Affairs, Jasper in the Company of Others, Altern8, and Baby D. They join headliners Primal Scream, We Are Scientists, The Coral, Newton Faulkner, Afro Celt Sound System, and Starsailor.

Lakefest, returns for a 5th year at a new location Eastnor Castle, the former site of The Big Chill Festival, from Thursday 11th to Sunday 14th August 2016.

An early bird adult weekender (18+) ticket with early entry Thursday is priced at £95, a teen camping (Aged 13-17) ticket is priced at £30, and a child camping (Aged 6-12) ticket is priced at £15. A live-in vehicle is priced at £40, or £80 with electric hook-up,and £10 or car parking. Children aged 5 and under are free and don't require a ticket.

There is also a 2 for 1 offer for the disabled and their carers priced at £85 with Thursday or £75 to camp from Friday.
