Eliza Carthy and The Wayward Band will bring Musicport festival to a close

plus Ngawang Lodup, Emily Portman Trio, Yussef Ahmed, and Frumptarn Guggenband

Eliza Carthy and The Wayward Band has been announced as the final night headliners for the 16th Musicport which takes place from Friday 16th until Sunday 18th October 2015 at Whitby Pavilion, in North Yorkshire.

The Whitby-based musician and her rousing band will finish the festival proceedings on the Main Stage on the Sunday and at the same time complete their 2015 tour which has been celebrating 21 years of Eliza being a professional musician.

Othger new line-up additions include Ngawang Lodup, Emily Portman Trio, Yussef Ahmed, and Frumptarn Guggenband.

Organiser Jim McLaughlin said, "We looked at all kinds of possible big name acts to finish the festival but in the end it had to be Eliza with her strong local connections and astonishingly powerful musical heritage who would win the day. It now means that Sunday of Musicport now has 3 of the very top English folk acts in its line-up with The Demon Barbers XL & The Emily Portman Trio to complement all the international artists who will be also appearing at this annual 3 day celebration of music from around the world "

They join the previously announced Fanfara Tirana meets Transglobal Underground, (Albania/UK) Varldens Band, (Sweden) Afrikan Boy, (Nigeria) Dub Colossus (Ethiopia), Terry Hall, Frigg (Finland) Tromboranga Salsa Orquesta (Spain), The Demon Barbers XL , Duke Special, Najmar Akhtar,(India/UK) The Kora Band (USA) The Hut People with Jess Morgan, Cajun Roosters, Ben Rogers, Paul Armfield, Emma and The Professor, Richard De Soussa, Will McNicol And Luke Selby, A Firm Of Poets, Ribbon Road, Maalstroom (Netherlands), and Naomi Bedford & Paul Simmonds.
