Mumford & Sons have been revealed as the headliners of this summer''s Reading and Leeds Festivals which happen over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The folk rockers are a surprise headlining act, but for Reading regulars it's no surprise as the last time they appeared in 2010 on the festival's Radio 1/NME Stage they drew the biggest crowd of the weekend packing both the tent and the surrounding field.

The band return as festival headliners in an England and Wales Festival exclusive, Festival boss Melvin Benn commented, "I’m delighted to have secured Mumford & Sons for Main Stage headliners this summer and can’t wait to see them return to the Festivals for their first UK performance in over two years. With today’s announcement of a furthereight great acts joining the bill, the Reading & Leeds line-upis already shaping up to be one of the best ever and I’m looking forward to revealing the third headliner and even more great artists soon."

Also confirmed for Reading & Leeds are UK Summer festival exclusive act Royal Blood, and England and Wales festival exclusive Bastille, plus progressive-house producer Deadmau5, and Rebel Sound a supergroup featuring Chase & Status and Rage, David Rodigan and Shy FX.

Chase & Status said, "The last time we played Reading & Leeds, the crowd were insane and we had to stop the set 4 times – there was so much energy. This year, we’re coming back as Rebel Sound, Culture Clash Champions 2014 – ourselves and Rage, David Rodigan and Shy FX. We’ve only performed together once and it’s safe to say that night was incredible. We’re already preparing the new dubs…can’t wait to see what the Reading& Leeds crowd will bring this summer."

Completing the 2nd announcement are Catfish & The Bottlemen, Reading & Leeds debutants Years And Years, Wolf Alice, Pretty Vicious, Jack Garratt, and Hannah Wants.

Reading Festival takes place at Little Johns Farm, Richfield Avenue, Reading, Berkshire, and Leeds Festival takes place at Bramham Park, Leeds, West Yorkshire with both events happening over the weekend of Friday 28th to Sunday 30th August 2015.

Making a UK festival exclusive performance Metallica will headline, with Jamie T, Pierce The Veil, Wilkinson, Refused, Run the Jewels, and Manchester Orchestra also confirmed. There are no other acts confirmed yet for 2015, expect a line-up of big names from the rock, alternative, indie, punk and metal scenes.
