Kendal Calling to host host a new Luna 9 Arena

The 'outer space' themed Kendal Calling has announced they will host a new Luna 9 Arena, a 360° hemispherical dome, housing the latest audio visual technology in a dome which acts as a projection screen in creating extra-ordinary multi-dimensional illusions..

Luna 9 will be host to an array of events including a daytime programme hosted by Dome Club and Full Dome UK of short planetarium films, chillout and ambient sounds and playbacks (including an immersive presentation of Pink Floyd’s album 'Dark Side of the Moon') and a guided tour of the universe.

In addition to the daytime programme, DJ Food has specially designed a full dome show of his new album ‘Search Engine’, along with special AV sets from DJ Cheeba and illustrator Pete Fowler's 'Seahawks'.

The evening will then see Luna 9 host DJs. On Friday it's lift off with a Cosmic Disco, featuring interstellar funk, boogie & 80s jams. Saturday is a Supercluster Space Rave with acid house and techno DJs. Finally Sunday evening Via Domus (a Latin reference meaning ‘the way home’) delivers house beats for the journey back to earth. Each night will be combined with 360° visuals created by Recursive Function Immersive Domes (RFID).

The festival have also announced that Virgin Trains will be this year’s travel partner for the festival. Virgin will be offering a 25% discount on Virgin Trains Advance Fare tickets to any Kendal Calling festival goers.

The line-up for the SOLD OUT event is lead by Friday headliner Suede, and Saturday's headliner Frank Turner And The Sleeping Souls. Also confirmed are De La Soul, 2manydjs (DJ Set), Happy Mondays, Miles Kane, Zane Lowe, Clean Bandit, Frightened Rabbit, Jimi Goodwin, Gorgon City, Andy C, Bondax, Mr Scruff, Tom Odell, Razorlight, Newton Faulkner, Athlete, Ella Eyre, Mr Scruff, Reel Big Fish, The Heavy, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Rae Morris, Saint Raymond, Dub Pistols, Jess Glynne, Womans Hour, Findlay, Breton, Josh Record, Kimberly Anne, Amber Run, Gallery Circus, Lanterns on the Lake, The Lucid Dream, Johnny Borrell & Zazou, The Lancashire Hotpots, Aquilo, DJ Food, Cheeba, DJ Moneyshot, Zion Train, and many more.

Kendal Calling festival offers array of performance art, comedy and spoken word with decent food, a real ale festival, the dedicated children’s Ladybird Arena and much morr, over the weekend of Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd August 2014, with early entry available on the Thursday. Kendal Calling returns to the Lowther Deer Park, Hackthorpe, in the Lake District.

Last year's the festival sold out in the middle of June this year it was mid May!
