Gaelic pioneers Capercaillie will be making Hebridean Celtic Festival part of their 30th anniversary celebrations.

Capercaillie
The band, formed in 1983, are the final headline act to be announced for HebCelt which is marking its 18th anniversary this year. They will join Van Morrison, Dougie MacLean, The Battlefield Band and the Red Hot Chilli Pipers as the leading acts at the event held at Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland from Wednesday 17th to Saturday 20th of July 2013.

Donald Shaw, one of the band's founders, said, "We have a very strong Gaelic and Celtic heritage and so playing HebCelt in what is a landmark year for us will be very special. The festival is renowned for making a huge contribution to the culture and creative landscape of the Hebrides and for its promotion of the Gaelic language in Scotland and beyond. We are delighted to be playing a part in an event which is also celebrating a milestone year."

Also confirmed to play this year's festival are Darrell Scott, Paddy Callaghan, Anderson McGinty Webster Ward and Fisher, and Pete Roe who join Lau, Karine Polwart, The Travelling Band, Battlefield Band, Fatherson, The Chair, Rusty Shackle, and The Hot Seats.

Many complementary events are also hosted by community groups around Stornaway and the islands of Lewis and Harris catering for a variety of tastes both musical and otherwise. There are also workshops often given by many of the festival's performers, which includes masterclass sessions. Also included are the ever popular Gaelic language tasters, lectures and children's entertainment plus numerous pub sessions in Stornoway and the surrounding area. As well as the music there's also a full programme of family entertainment, as well as a street arts programme with walkabout, workshops and fire shows.

A ticket is priced at £70 for the four days (£55 for concession and £15 for children under 14). Day tickets for the 18th HebCelt go on sale tomorrow (Friday).
