Yesterday the second day of Creamfields had to be cancelled after flooding on site made the event unsafe.

Torrential rain left the site in disarray and yesterday morning organisers made the decision to close the event with those already on the site at Daresbury Estate, near Warrington in Cheshire told to go home by Cheshire police. An announcement on official website, said, "Every effort has been made to continue with the event and following an evaluation of the site the decision has been made by the promoters, Cheshire Police and multi agencies on site to close today's final day in the interest of Health and Safety.

The heavy downpour overnight has created issues across the site leaving many areas unusable. It is our primary concern at this time that assistance is given to those on site and ensure those campers exit safely
."

For those who bought ticket and coach packages the site was kept open until today, when they were able to leave on the services they had bought with their tickets.

A statement on the Creamfields site posted last night read:
"A large number of people have now left the Creamfields site in Daresbury following the cancellation of the event due to severe flooding.

Festival goers were urged to leave the site as soon as possible as more heavy rain is forecast overnight. Police have spent the afternoon patrolling the arena and campsites helping to direct festival goers to drier ground. Officers have also assisted those who have parked on the site to exit via the safest route.

The majority of people have now left the site however there will be a number of people who will remain there overnight. Provisions have been made for these people to camp out overnight in the campsite and food and drink concessions will remain open for them.

Police and stewards will patrol the campsite and anyone with any welfare issues is urged to speak to a steward or visit the Information hubs located in the campsites.

Free Shuttle buses are operating smoothly transporting people off site back to Warrington, Manchester, Runcorn and Liverpool. Traffic has eased and over 70% of vehicles have now left site, with tractors assisting anyone with difficulty and taxis are in operation with no delays. Those customers travelling with Big Green Coach, their service will be operating as advertised on Monday morning.

Chief Inspector Bev Raistrick said: "We understand that some people are experiencing difficulty in getting home – a number of festival goers attended the event as part of an organised coach trip from other parts of the UK and will not be able to get back until tomorrow morning. Some festival goers have chosen to remain on the site tonight and head home tomorrow morning.

"The organisers of the event have decided to allow these people to camp on the site overnight and they will have access to food and drink. Our priority is to ensure that those who remain on the site do so safely and have all the necessary things available to them. These ticketholders will leave the site tomorrow morning
."
The event was due to host Deadmau5, Calvin Harris, Tiesto and Groove Armada after Avicii, David Guetta, and Eric Prydz, had appeared on the opening rain filled day. A 3 day camping ticket was priced at £135.
