Adam Ant And The Good The Mad And The Lovely Posse will be the new headlining act at Bearded Theory replacing Levellers who had to cancel their festival appearances until July after fiddle player Jon Sevink needed surgery.

Adam Ant and his band will be headlining Bearded Theory Festival in Derby on Friday 18th May. They are a late replacement for the Levellers, who had been forced to withdraw less than 5 weeks before the festival, due to injury.

Though he stepped away from the limelight for a number of years, Adam Ant returned to regular live performance in 2010, and 'Prince Charming' has enjoyed a massive resurgence in his career. With his group Adam and the Ants he was one of the pioneers of the new wave/post-punk movement, enjoying considerable success with hits including 'Stand and Deliver', 'Goody Two Shoes', and 'Ant Rap'.

Steve Blount from Bearded Theory says, "We are delighted to be welcoming Adam Ant & the Good, the Mad & the Lovely Posse to headline Bearded Theory Festival. To find a high-quality replacement headline act with just four weeks before the festival was a tall order, so we are incredibly excited to have secured a performance from such an iconic artist as Adam Ant at this short notice. We wish Jon from the Levellers a speedy recovery and look forward to them hosting them at Bearded Theory at a future date."

eFestivals believes Levellers have already agreed in principle to headline the event next year.

The Damned, and Dreadzone will also be headlining Bearded Theory which takes place from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th May 2012 at Kedleston Hall Park, Derby, in Derbyshire. Wheatus, System 7, The Ashan Project, Astralasia, Banco De Gaia, Terrorvision, Mad Dog Mcrea, Tarantism, Martin Harley Band, Hobo Jones & The Junkyard Dogs, Leatherat, The True Deceivers, Show of Hands, Chumbawamba, Radical Dance Faction (RDF), The Selecter, The Urban Voodoo Machine, Credit to The Nation, The Popes, Random Hand, Kissmet, Imperial Leisure, Ferocious Dog, WitchDoktors, Rasta4Eyes, The Travelling Band, RoughNeck Riot, Tracy Jane Sullivan, Cracked Actors, Boot Hill All Stars, Karl Phillips & The Midnight Ramblers, Pronghorn, Back to the Planet, Los Albertos, and King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys, and more.

Bearded Theory has also confirmed details of a number of exciting changes for 2012.
