Rock Ness seeks emerging talent

for the Arcadia UFO on Sunday night

This summer's Rock Ness are looking for aspiring DJs, and offering them a chance to can get the crowds jumping and blow the Arcadia UFO back into orbit.

To win the opportunity to play a set at Rock Ness entrants must upload their biggest club mix to the festival's Soundcloud group http://soundcloud.com/groups/rockness-dj-competition-2012.

To be eligible, the mix must be 20-30 mins in length, and entrants must provide their name, email address, the name of the place they live, and their mix's track-listing (either as timed-comments or in the description) on the Soundcloud track page. The competition is open until 30th April.

The mixes will be whittled down to a shortlist of six finalists, as judged by the Rock Ness team. The lucky six will be invited to battle it out on the turntables at the Sub Club in Glasgow on Saturday 19th May with the winner announced on the day.

The finalists will be judged by a panel of including Scottish Mixmag's Duncan Dick, Subculture's Harri & Domenic and reps from Rock Ness, Sub Club and Soma Records.

The prize will be a Rock Ness slot in the Arcadia UFO on Sunday night and 2 x weekend VIP camping tickets! None of the finalists will go home empty-handed, the runner up will also walk away with a pair of VIP weekend camping tickets and the remaining 4 DJs will each bag a pair of weekend camping tickets.

Speaking about the DJ Competition, Festival Director Jim King said, "This is a great opportunity for any aspiring DJ to grab hold off. The winner is going to be playing in front of thousands of people and on the same bill as electro’s finest so it's a must enter."

Rock Ness takes place on the scenic banks of Loch Ness, Scotland on Friday 8th to Sunday 10th June 2012 where Mumford & Sons, Biffy Clyro, and Deadmau5 headline with Justice, Soma, Sub Club, Andrew Weatherall, Tiger & Woods, Ivan Smagghe, Ed Sheeran, Metronomy, Noah And The Whale, Wretch 32, DJ Fresh presents Fresh/Live, Azealia Banks, The Drums, Dave Clarke, Mystery Jets, Admiral Fallow, Claude Von Stroke, Animal Farm, Dave Clarke, The View, Annie Mac, Jacques Lu Cont, The Rapture, Bastille, Porter Robinson, Friendly Fires, Tim Minchin, Kassidy, Knife Party, Mylo, Zane Lowe, Jakwob, The Japanese Popstars, Little Comets, Lucy rose, To Kill A King, The Draymin, Filth DJS, Beardyman, Death In Vegas, Chic Featuring Nile Rodgers, Etienne De Crecy, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Busy P, Riton,The Cuban Brothers, Filth DJs, Polymath, and Count Clockwork, with more acts still to be announced.

Tickets are priced at £159 for a weekend camping and £149 for a non-camping festival ticket. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. Under 12s go free. A 3 day weekend camping / non camping student ticket is priced at £145, a 3 day Disabled weekend camping ticket is priced at £79.50 or £74.50 non-camping – please email access@aeglive.co.uk.
