Joan Armatrading is the first act to be confirmed for Folklore a new festival added this summer to Jersey's live music calendar from the team behind Jersey Live.

Joan Armatrading (Jazz World Stage)
Described as Britains First Lady of Song, Joan Armatrading has been nominated for a Grammy Award on no less than three occasions. Possessing an extremely unique voice and strong rhythmical acoustic guitar, she will be bringing with her hits such as 'Love and Affection', 'Drop the Pilot' and 'Lovers Speak'.

Joan last performed in Jersey to sold out crowds in 2008, and this year she's set release a new album, which she's sure to give a taste of alongside her huge back catalogue.

Joan will be bringing her blend of blues, folk and pop to the main stage of Folklore which plans to offer an eclectic and imaginative bill of alternative live music, comedy, theatre, poetry and film will be on display in relatively intimate surrounds, across two stages at an as-yet unconfirmed site on Jersey, in the Channel Islands, off the coast of France, on Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July 2012.

Warren Holt, co-director of Folklore, said, "Joan was last here in 2008 where she sold out at the Opera House for 3 nights in a row. She is an incredible artist that we are so happy to have confirmed her booking. The festival will hold 5000 people per day over 2 days. We of course require the Bailiffs Entertainment Permit, but have confirmed our dates and intentions. Work is well underway to make this a fantastic addition to the festival calendar, and one that we hope will not only be warmly embraced by Jersey's music lovers, but will attract visitors from England, France and beyond."

Alongside the main stage the festival will also feature a second stage hosting comedy, acoustic acts, theatre, film, poetry, and literature. There will be an arts & crafts area, an organic food village, holistic healing village, and a kids creative playground.

Ticket prices have not yet been announced and are not yet on sale, eFestivals will have more information once it's available.
