Metallica have been announced as the headliners for next summer's Rock am Ring in Germany.

Metallica will play their best-selling album, 'The Black Album', in its entirety returning to Rock Am Ring for their fifth time. The Black Album reached number 1 in over 25 countries and spawned five hit singles 'Enter Sandman','Sad But True','Wherever I May Roam','Nothing Else Matters' and 'The Unforgiven'.

Promoter Andre Marek Lieberberg said of Metallia's return, "This is the best news for all Ring and Park rockers! We look forward to a memorable performance by Metallica presenting one of the best rock albums of all time."

Metallica join the previously announced headliners Die Toten Hosen - Germany's punk band will be celebrating their 30th year anniversary at Rock am Ring.

Rock am Ring takes place over 3 days from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd June 2012, and showcases acts from the international live music scene at the Nurburgring in the Eifel mountains.
