As predicted by eFestivals earlier today, heavy metal legends Black Sabbath will be headlining next summer's 10th Anniversary of Download at Donington Park over the weekend of Friday 8th to Sunday 10th June 2012. They'll play on Sunday 10th June.

The original line-up of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, made the announcement today at Hollywood's Whisky A Go Go club – the site of Black Sabbath's 1970 Los Angeles debut, exactly 41 days ago today. It was also confirmed that they'll be recording new material together.

Since forming in Birmingham, England in 1968, the band have been hugely influential in the development of heavy metal rock music. Over 22 members have been in and out of the band and albums like the million-selling 'Paranoid' have helped make them one of the greatest metal bands of all time. This will be Sabbath's only UK festival appearance next year.

The original Sabbath line-up last reunited reunited to play Ozzy Osbourne's touring festival 'Ozzfest', which featured a headlining show at Download in 2005.

Andy Copping, VP of Promotions at Live Nation said, "The reunion of the original line up of Black Sabbath has been one of the most talked about stories of the year. I am thrilled that the band will return to Donington Park next year to help us mark 10 years of the Download Festival."

Yesterday it was announced that Metallica will be playing their fifth studio album - the untitled 'Black Album' in it's entirety as Saturday night Download headliners in seven months time. The album features the tracks six hit singles including 'Enter Sandman', 'Don't Tread on Me', 'The Unforgiven', 'Nothing Else Matters', 'Wherever I May Roam', and 'Sad but True'.

There are no other acts currently confirmed for 2012. Tickets are not currently on sale. A limited amount of Early Bird tickets went on sale last July, and some VIP packages are still available.
