METAL FESTIVALS FOR UNDER £100


Bloodstock Open Air
Thursday 9 August until Sunday 12 August 2012
Location: Catton Hall, Walton-on-Trent, South Derbyshire

Cost: £95 for adults, and car parking, child (aged 4 - 11 years), day tickets, and campervan passes are expected to be on sale at a later date.

As well as the international heavy metal bands across three stages, Bloodstock offers a large selection of merchandise stalls, metal karaoke, a campsite and a wide selection of food and bars.

TRIBUTE FESTIVALS FOR UNDER £100


Glastonbudget
Friday 1 June until Sunday 3 June 2012
Location: Turnpost Farm, Wymeswold, Leicestershire

Cost: Early bird adult weekend tickets are priced at £62.50, and include camping and parking with family camping an additional £2.50. A teen (16-17) weekend ticket is priced at £58, a young person (6-15) weekend ticket is priced at £35. Child (0-5) weekend ticket is priced at £2. A caravan weekend ticket is priced at £20.

There will be over 130 bands appearing as well as tribute acts there's a range of new and original acts playing. Expect also alternative entertainment, a festival village, a real ale bar and activities for all the family.

Tribfest
Friday 17 August until Sunday 19 August 2012
Location: Tickton (Near Beverley), East Yorkshire

Cost: Early bird tickets are available priced at £85 for adults. Camping is £5 per tent and parking is £10 per car. Youth tickets (16-18) are priced at £65. Child tickets (5-15) are priced at £45. Under fives can attend for free (Ticket still needed).

Tribfest is Europe's biggest tribute music festival. As well as tribute acts expect local bands, kid zone, food stall and bars and the occasional lookalike.

COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVALS FOR UNDER £100


Rockfield Country Music Festival
Friday 1 June until Monday 4 June 2012
Location: Rockfield, Monmouth, South Wales

Cost: A Thursday-Sunday ticket is priced at £30 or day tickets are available priced at £12 per day. Children aged 5-14 years weekend tickets are priced at £10, with under 5s able to attend free. Free camping is available with all tickets.

An all ages 'Wild West' themed event where many of the attendees dress up. As well as country music there's a birds of prey show, Native Indian dancers, Pepper's country disco, raffle prizes, licensed bar, food stalls, re-enacted gunfights and bar brawls, line dancing lessons, and Wild West style trade stalls.

Maverick Festival
Friday 29 June until Sunday 1 July 2012
Location: Easton Farm Park, Easton, Woodbridge, Suffolk

Cost: Adult tickets are priced at £60 for the weekend including camping and parking or £39 without camping. Kids aged 10-15 years tickets are priced at £8, and children under 10 free.

The festival celebrates Americana, Alt-Country, and Roots with film, workshops, and music and dance, performances and workshops, spread across four stages.

Sapcote Country Music Festival
Thursday 2 August until Sunday 5 August 2012
Location: Sapcote, Leicestershire

Cost: A 4 day ticket including club is priced at £45 with camping an additional £20. Children aged under 15 years can attend free.

FOLK FESTIVALS FOR UNDER £100


Moira Furnace Folk Festival
Friday 17 August until Sunday 19 August 2012
Location: Moira Furnace Museum, Swadlincote, Derbyshire

Cost: Expect £25 for a weekend adult ticket; child (5-16) £6; family (2 adults and 2 children) £50. Children under 5 years free. On site camping available only to full weekend ticket holders for around £10 per night.
The festival features some well known and talented main acts, plus local and national, up and coming artists. Events take place on the green site of Moira Furnace as well as the Miners Welfare a few hundred metres from the main site. Sing arounds and Sessions take place at local pubs some 10 minutes walk from the main site.

Stonehaven Folk Festival
Thursday 5 July until Sunday 8 July 2012
Location: Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, Scotland

Cost: Expect around £48 for a weekend ticket.
As well as the main concerts there are also workshops, Ceilidh, survivors session, free afternoon concerts, Family show, World paper and Comb Championships, Tradition Bearers Concert, Acoustic Youth Stage and more all around the Town.

Purbeck Folk Festival
Thursday 23rd until Sunday 26th August 2012
Location: Wilkswood Farm, nr Swanage, Dorset

Cost: Expect around £55 for a weekend ticket.
Located in the Purbeck Hills this festival offers two stages of folk music plus a range of workshops and kids' events.

Shepley Spring Festival
Friday 25 May until Sunday 27 May 2012
Location: Shepley Village, nr Huddersfield, West Yorkshire

Cost: Early bird £60 including camping.

The festival has a full weekend of events celebrating the best of traditional music, song and dance, including concerts, ceilidhs, morris dancing, music and song sessions, and music and dance workshops.

Bromyard Folk Festival
Friday 7 September until Sunday 9 September 2012
Location: Bromyard, Herefordshire

Cost: Expect around £78 with camping, a young adult (aged 18-21) weekend ticket is priced at £34, a junior (aged 12-18 - in school) weekend ticket is priced at £24, children aged under 10 can attend for free.
Most of the main concerts, ceilidhs and workshops are held in marquees at the Broadbridge site. The festival will also play host to morris sides, workshops, dance displays, children's entertainment including Jan's Van, craft fair, dance lessons, real ale bars, food, pub sessions etc.

Chippenham Folk Festival
Friday 1 June until Monday 4 June 2012
Location: Chippenham, Wiltshire

Cost: Expect around £80 for a full season ticket, under 16's half price on everything, and under 10's Free. Add camping available to season ticket holders on riverside sites in the centre of the town at around £18 per person for the weekend, kids aged (11-15) half price.
The main ceilidh and concert events take place in the park by the river. Practically every pub and venue in the town is used for a wide range of sessions, workshops and smaller concerts and dances.

Wimborne Folk Festival
Friday 8 June until Sunday 10 June 2012
Location: Wimborne, Dorset

Cost: Expect around £80 for adult weekend season ticket, camping is available for weekend festival ticket holders only. It is about 8 minutes walk from the town centre and there is an extra charge for staying there. Child tickets (8-14) are half price. Accompanied children under 8 years get in free.
Three days of concerts and ceilidhs, plus music & dance workshops, and dancing displays including Morris, Appalachian, Irish, Scottish, Clog, and more.

Village Pump Folk Festival
Friday 20 July until Sunday 22 July 2012
Location: White Horse Country Park, Wiltshire

Cost: Early bird £95 for a weekend ticket. Tickets for 11-17 years olds are half price. Tickets will go on sale from Tuesday 1st November 2011.
A new event for 2012. There will be two main stages and a number of smaller sessions and family oriented tents, as well as children's entertainment, comedy, workshops, beer, trade stalls selling food, and informal sessions.

Southwell Folk Festival
Friday 1 June until Monday 4 June 2012
Location: The Workhouse, Southwell, nr Nottingham

Cost: Expect around £75 for adults, £28 for a child (12-17). There is camping available, priced at around £15 for adults, or £8 for a youth (12-17) with limited space for caravans and motor homes (£5 extra).
Showcasing international performers of the folk scene, and local performers, with folk dances playing a big part over the weekend, there's plenty of opportunity to get involved in the workshops, ceilidhs, open mic stages and children's events.

Another thing to consider if you're strapped for cash is volunteering to work at your favourite festival, this will sometimes include a meal or two as well.
